The smile on Joshâs face was tinged with frost. âIâve only seen this woman once in my life and have no reason to come to her defense. Why would you wish to settle her issues with me?â
âM-Mr. Josh⦠âBrie stammered, her face pasty, as she gazed at Josh. She had pleased him so thoroughly in bed a few days ago, yet here he was abandoning her so easily!
âOh? In that caseâ¦â Alyssaâséyes narrowed into sly crescents.
âYou wouldnât mind if I took Ms. Caldwell out to the main hall for a stroll, would you? To let everyone, and especially Madam Clarissa, get to know her?â
Brie was scared out of her wits by now.
Meanwhile, Josh paled instantly. His gaze grew hostile. âWhat is your intention here, Ms. Alyssa?â
âNothing much, really.â Alyssa leaned against the couch, her gaze just as hostile.
âOne should always refer to the owner before reprimanding their mutt. I only hope the owner of this one knows when to reprimand them themselves. Iâm only a young woman, after all. It would be terribly rude of me to do it myself, no?â
Ah. So that was it.
Josh understood now. Alyssa wasnât only getting back at Brie. She was also getting back at him.
It had been ten years since they had last met, and there were no grudges between them. So whyâ¦
All of a sudden, Josh glanced at Sean.
Oh, so that was how it was. It looked like Alyssa had found out about what had happened the other night.
All bite and no bark, this one!
âP-Please help me, sir.. please!â Brie begged, stumbling over to Joshâs feet, only to be held back by Morgan.
âApologize to Ms. Alyssa and Ms. Tatiana,â Josh said with a glare.
âIâm sorry, Iâm so sorry⦠I made a mistake before. Iâm so sorry!â Brie cried, pleading on her knees.
Tatiana gazed at Alyssa, her eyes filled with admiration and respect.
Josh was Schmidt Groupâs president, the one person on par with Jasper Beckett in Solana City. But that didnât matter when Alyssa was concerned. Whether they were a Schmidt or a Beckett, everyone would fall âDo you think a mere apology will suffice?â Alysas asked frostily.
Josh slowly stroked his chin, nodding at his secretary. âMorgan.â
âYes, sir.â
Morgan instantly understood what his boss meant. He went up to Brie and slapped her without hesitation.
e had just Brie yelped in pain, falling to the floor, Blood filled her mouth from the multitude of slaps she received.
Tatianaâs heart lurched. She quickly looked away.
âDonât be scared. Iâm here.â Alyssa held Tatiana in her arms.
She turned to Sean and said, âWhat are you standing there for, Sean? Canât you see that Tatiana needs some consoling after being so frightened? Get over here already.â
Tatiana immediately blushed.
âMs. Alyssa, I⦠Seanâs expression shifted quickly, his heart pounding in his chest.
âAlright, timeâs nearly up. You can console her outside, Sean.â Alyssa then led Tatiana out of the hall.
Before stepping out the door, she said, âThis hall is especially hidden from public view, Mr. Josh. Most people usually stay out of its way. Iâll leave it to you to do the needful.â
