Despite the dim environment, Julien noticed the anger and tears in Jonahâs eyes. It was a shock to him.
Jonah was oblivious to his allure at that moment. Julien was deeply attracted to the pain and vulnerability underneath Jonahâs tough exterior.
Jonah collected himself and fixed his gaze on Julien. âWhatâs the matter?â
Squinting, Julien approached Jonah slowly. Their eyes met, and their breaths intermingled.
Suddenly, Julien reached out and gently caressed the corner of Jonahâs eye. Jonahâs heart raced, and his breathing grew heavy.
âI know you feel bad for your sister. I understand your feeling,â Julien whispered into Jonahâs ear. âBut promise me, donât do anything rash. You wouldnât want to worry your princess, right? Iâll be worried about you, too.â
Jonahâs ears turned red. Some unknown emotions stirred within.
Julien straightened his back and put on an impish smile once more. âI wonât ask for a ride because youâre busy. Looks like I canât go home anytime soon. I should buy a car at the dealership later so I can go around easier.
âJonah, do you know anyone at the dealership? Can I get a discount?â
Jonah, breathing heavily, grabbed Julienâs wrist. Julienâs eyes wavered, and his heart was beating like crazy.
Jonah, pursing his lips, drew Julien closer to his heaving chest. He remarked, âGiving you a ride doesnât take up much time. Pick any car you like from the underground garage when you return to Heightsnew Villa.â
Jasper did not take anything for two days except for some water. He was sleeping for the rest of the time.
Xavier, gravely concerned, stayed beside him to take care of him. He even prayed for Jasperâs health.
Heâd rather be the one suffering than see Jasper suffer.
Ever since Jasper left Alyssa, he had been living in hell.
Landon called Xavier, asking, âXavier, howâs your boss doing? Is he awake now? Iâll droj âMr. Landon, you donât have to. Heâs sleeping after taking his meds,â Xavier replied in frust âDid he take the medicine for his sickness, or did he just pop some sleeping pills? Heâs been sleeping a lot after taking his meds. If heâs not doing well, Iâll secretly get him to the hospital.â
âItâs fine, Mr. Landon. The other doctors cannot be of help to Mr. Beckett if even Dr. White is stumped by his condition.â Xavier turned to look at Jasper with a heavy heart, musing, âSometimes, I wonder if thereâs a need to take the medicine.â
âWhy so?â
âThe side effects are severe. The medicine will cure Mr. Beckettâs tremors, but he will vomit frequently and feel drowsy. It feels like just another form of suffering. Iâm worried that heâll be a mess if he keeps taking the medicine.â
Hearing that, Landon went speechless in disbelief.
âMr. Beckett has sacrificed a lot for Ms. Alyssa. Sheâs the reason heâs suffering today. Why canât she give him a chance?â Xavier blurted out without thinking.
âXavier, donât say that,â Landon warned and, after a pause, sighed. âLyse has never done anything wrong to Jasper. It seems like Jasper is going through a tough time now. Just think of it as making up for his mistake.â
