Gongon disappeared, and the world around him shattered. Junhyuk clenched his hands into fists. Kaljaque was gone, and Gongon had come because of it. They had been able to win easily.
He had been victorious in all of his battle, but he wasnât sure when he last enjoyed a victory like that. He was smiling hard as his surroundings turned white.
In front of him, there was square box, which he thought contained the reward for his victory.
[Here is the reward victory in the Swamp of Despair. Inspect it.]
Junhyuk thought of the rewardâs description and touched the box. It opened, and three gems floated out.
[The reward for your victory, the highest quality runestones. You may take each colored runestone and wish for the runestone you want of that color.]
He touched the red runestone, and various types of red runestones came up as options. He didnât hesitate and chose an attack runestone. It was of the highest quality and increased attack by sixty. He had gained strength incomparable to before and was feeling deeply satisfied.
He touched the yellow runestone and invested in defense. His defense would increase by sixty as well. Then, he touched the blue runestone and selected accuracy.
[The highest quality runestones will be delivered to you, and they will be socketed to an item automatically.]
Junhyuk was surprised by that and raised his arm. Every runestone had been socketed to his item. He didnât need Bebe.
âI like it.â
He tapped his arm and smiled. His attack and defense had both increased.
[The next championsâ battlefield will take place two weeks from now. We will see you there.]
After the voice spoke, the world shone blindingly again. Junhyuk closed his eyes and waited for the light to stop pounding at his cornea. Then, he opened his eyes. Time really hadnât passed.
He got up and picked up his burner phone. Soon, he heard Sarangâs bright voice, âBig brother! Did you win?â
âIâll tell you about it when we meet, but the result was victory.â
âWhat was the reward?â
âA set of three of the highest quality runestones.â
âThatâs huge!â
Junhyuk laughed and replied, âIf you activate another power, you can come to the championsâ battlefield.â
âThen, I wonât be able to go with you to the Dimensional Battlefield. I wonât.â
âDonât talk like that. You must become stronger. And become a champion and a hero.â
âIt was just talk. Donât get too riled up.â
âI have to go out. Iâll call you.â
âDonât forget it!â
He got up, put on his mask and teleported. After he left things to seem like the house was still occupied, he left to meet Sungtae.
He got to the motel where Sungtae was staying, knocked on the door and waited.
âWho is it?â
âOpen up.â
He spoke simply but coldly, and Sungtae opened the door. When he saw Junhyukâs face, he stepped back slowly. Junhyuk followed him inside and took a seat. After he sat on the bed, he pulled out a mask and handed it to Sungtae.
âPut it on.â
Sungtae picked it up, astonished.
âIs it some kind of spy thing?â
Sungtae pulled it with his hands, and the mask extended, so he placed it on his face.
âIt feels like skin, and I can breath easily.â
It was not an average mask. It cost 1,800G, which meant that it cost 1,800 ordinary souls.
âIf I put on some glasses, itâll be perfect!â
He looked like a meathead. Sungtae looked at himself in the mirror and fixed his posture a few times. He hunched his shoulders and bent over. His appearance had surely changed.
âThis thing really works!â
âI told you not to worry.â
Sungtae smiled and looked at him.
âDid you buy the building yet?â
âYes.â
âWe put it in our companyâs name.â
Junhyuk didnât understand and looked at him, and Sungtae handed him a few documents. He looked it over and frowned.
âKST Company?â
âYou donât like it?â
âThey are your initials, Kwak, Sungtae?â
Sungtae scratched his head.
âWe can always change it.â
Junhyuk laughed and asked, âThe name isnât important. What kind of company are you thinking of?â
âItâs a shell company. It exists only on paper.â
âTo whom does it belong?â
Sungtae gave him a piece of paper.
âMax?â
âYes. Thatâs the shell companyâs most powerful shareholderâs name. There is a lot of information on him, but there is no picture of him.â
âDo you want to use my picture?â
âCorrect! If we do that, itâll be perfect.â
Junhyuk took a moment to think. He had wanted to buy the building under his name, but if he did that he would attract attention from others. They needed a supercomputer in the building, and it would be better to buy it under a foreign name.
He didnât have supercomputer like Zaira and he had already spent half of his capital. It was not the time to reveal himself yet.
Junhyuk looked at Sungtae. The man was telling him which road to take, so Junhyuk placed a chair in front of him and sat.
âWe have to talk.â
âAbout what?â
Sungtaeâs expression changed completely, and Junhyuk continued calmly, âI am your employer.â
âIâll be loyal to you.â
âSure. Some things you did have crossed some lines.â
Sungtae became anxious as Junhyuk spoke. Junhyuk had killed people without any remorse. He didnât want to cross him.
âSorry if I crossed the line!â
Junhyuk stared at him without speaking, and Sungtae realized how heavy the silence was. He bowed deeply, and Junhyuk got up.
âIf you want to do something, report to me first. Understand?â
âI understand.â
âI like the effort you are putting into things. You may use my picture,â Junhyuk said.
âThen, I will take a picture of you now.â Sungtae took the picture with cell phone and bowed again, saying, âNext time, I will report to you first.â
Junhyuk remained silent until he thought of something, âBiggest shareholder⦠Do you mean that there are other shareholders?â
Sungtae started sweating heavily, and Junhyuk smiled cooly at him.
âThere is one other shareholder. He has 5 percent of the shares while Max has 95 percent.â Sungtae smiled awkwardly and added, âItâs in there.â
Junhyuk looked into document and back at Sungtae.
âSo, you took stock options on your own?â
âIt would be better to have a public companyâ¦â
Junhyuk smiled bitterly. He had taken the shares, and Junhyuk had to watch him more carefully.
âFine. You will promote me on the internet, but can you create legal evidence on me?â
âOf course! The person who will sell me the supercomputer will work as a broker. I will ask him for documents for you,â he said.
âHow much?â
âEach identification will costs $10,000.â
âIncluding yours, so do we need two?â
âYou are quick.â
âTell him to make two then.â
âSure.â
Junhyuk thought for a moment and said, âWe will buy the building and get the supercomputer and the IDs first. Tell him to meet you early tomorrow morning.â
Sungtae nodded, and Junhyuk left. He felt better having Sungtae do all of the work. On his way home, he looked up into the starry sky. He was friends with Jeffrey, and Sarang was on his side, but she lacked power. He was working with Sungtae to increase his power in South Korea, but he was still very weak by societyâs standards.
âNext time, I will bring back something that will make me a lot of money.â
While looking at the stars, he thought of Gongon.
âGongon?â
âWhew! I increased my communication crystalâs ability.â
âWhat are you talking about?â
âCan you see my face?â
Surprised, Junhyuk said, âI can see you! Can you see me?â
âNo. You havenât increased your crystalâs ability. I can just hear you.â
Junhyuk laughed. Gongon was sucking on a piece of candy.
âYou were supposed to ask some questions when you returned, no?â
âShit! My own father sold me out.â
âTo the Dimensional Battlefield?â
âRight. And I asked about Bebe and Hatma, and he told me to be careful. They might come after me in my dimension.â
Bebe and Hatma were scary. Junhyuk knew that and nodded.
âNext time, be more careful.â
âRight! I will be. He is only a sorcerer⦠Why is he so scary?â
Gongon finished the piece of candy and started sucking on another one.
âI am on my way home. Call me later,â Junhyuk said.
âOK, right! Next time, Iâll increase your crystalâs ability as well.â
âThanks!â
After the conversation, Junhyuk felt good that he had befriended Gongon. The hatchling had given him a Spatial Bag, and he might even give him more stuff.
âIâm worried about what will happen when he goes to the Dimensional Battlefield.â
Gongon was very proud. On the championsâ battlefield, everyone was the same, but heroes were different. Nothing good would come of annoying them.
âNext time, Iâll teach him about it.â
Gongon listened to him, so he would kindly explain things.
On Saturday, before noon, Junhyuk met with Sungtae, and they went to the Gangnam district. Sungtae was worried about going to a crowded place, but they went to a small coffee shop.
They were meeting someone, and that person probably thought it would be better to meet in a crowded place. Junhyuk sat down, and Sungtae ordered a coffee and took a sit. He was sipping on his coffee, when a foreigner came over and sat down next to them.
He was slightly bald and well combed. The man touched his chin and said, âThat is a really nice transformation.â
He attempted to grab Junhyukâs coffee, but the man saw his eyes and took Sungtaeâs coffee instead, sipping on it. Sungtae smiled at the man.
âBro, long time no see!â
âRight! We met when you dropped out of school.â
Sungtae smiled.
âYou heard about what we need?â
âI heard, but do you know how much it will cost?â
âI know. But safety is more important.â
The man wiped his sweat with a handkerchief.
âWhat do you see me as?â
Junhyuk, who had only been listening until then, asked, âYour name?â
When he spoke, the noisy coffee shop became very quiet. He directed the question to the man, and the man wiped his face.
âIâm Brian.â
He pulled out a package and gave it to Brian.
âThings,â he said.
Brian pulled out a couple of passports and IDs from his bag, and Junhyuk took his and gave the rest to Sungtae. Then, he approached Brian slowly.
Brian gulped.
âThe money is ready. When are you going to be ready?â
âItâll take about two weeks.â
Junhyukâs lips twitched.
âIâll give you five days.â
