After she left, Mark had Lunch and felt much better.
He sat quietly on the sofa in the living room and read the newspaper.
After taking a nap at noon, his phone suddenly rang.
He glanced at the screen and saw an unknown number flashing.
With furrowed brows, Mark answered the phone.
âThis is Mark,â he said.
No one was speaking on the other line.
ALL Mark could hear was the sound of someone hyperventilating.
Mark patiently waited for the other person to speak.
After a while, he figured out who it was.
His tone softened as he asked, âEdwin, is that you?â
Indeed, it was Edwin who was on the phone.
Edwin was still cross and had a mean face on.
After a while, he finally said, âYou said you were going to come back!â
Upon hearing this, Markâs heart twitched.
âItâs my fault,â he apologized sincerely.
âAre you at home now? Iâll go and pick you up, okay?â
Edwin didnât say anything.
Mark further coaxed, âHow about I take you out with your little sister? Letâs go eat your favorite fried chicken!â
Edwin bit his lip before saying, âShe canât eat that.
â
âThen I will bring her bottle,â Mark responded.
Edwin didnât say anything, which Mark took as him agreeing to his invite.
âIâll be there soon,â he told him.
âGreat-uncle,â Edwin awkwardly called him before hanging up the phone.
Mark was surprised to hear the call suddenly drop.
But after a while, he smiled and turned to Peter.
âItâs okay.
As long as heâs happy.
Peter, Iâm going to pick up Edwin and Olivia.
The three of us will go out.
Get me a car quickly.
