She glared at her husband.
âThis isnât Edwinâs fault.
If it werenât for you, he and Laura wouldnât be in this mess.
â
Clearly uncomfortable with his wife pointing out his faults, Mark frowned deeply.
While trying to apologize, he couldnât help but add, âIf it werenât for that incident, our son might not even be with Laura now!â
Ceciliaâs eyes blazed with anger.
Despite her advancing years, she still had a fiery temper.
She was cherished by her parents and loved dearly by Waylen and Rena, so sometimes she still acted like a spoiled brat when provoked.
In a huff, she stormed upstairs.
Mark called out to her, but she ignored him and quickened her pace.
He felt embarrassed but tried to maintain his composure in front of Waylen, Rena, and the younger ones.
âDonât mind her,â he said dismissively.
âSheâll be fine after a good nightâs sleep.
â
Waylen, however, suggested, âMaybe you should go talk to her?â
Mark stubbed out his cigarette.
âNah.
We men donât need to make a big deal out of it.
â
Despite that, he headed upstairs the next second.
Waylen turned to Alexis and Leonel, his expression turning stern.
âNow, whatâs going on with you two?â
Alexis, reclining casually, responded, âWhat could be going on? Dad, youâre comfortable in your life, unaware of othersâ struggles.
You and Mom can be lovey-dovey, but you begrudge us having a little fun?â
Waylenâs anger flared.
Rising to his feet, he pointed at her.
âRepeat that.
What do you mean by âhaving a little funâ? With whom?â
Alexis stood up and silently mouthed two wordsâ Leonel Douglas.
Marcus, lounging on the sofa, stroked his nose with amusement.
