Waylen still appeared strong, but the years were catching up.
During the holidays, he would always called him and asked if he was coming home.
Leonel lay down beside Waylen.
He had never slept in Waylen and Renaâs bed before.
He always felt like an outsider compared to the other Fowler children, so he believed this wasnât his spot.
Now, lying there, he softly called out again, âDad.
â
Waylen closed his eyes, a gentle smile on his face.

After a moment, he affectionately patted Leonelâs shoulder.
âSilly boy! Why are you getting all emotional now?â
Later, Leonel headed downstairs.
The servants were cleaning up the dinner table.
Rena approached him and asked, âHow is Waylen doing?â
Leonel replied quietly, âMom, you should get some rest.
â
Rena paused, but then smiled.
âAlright, Iâll head upstairs.
Your dad, heâs always a handful after heâs had a drink.
â
With that, she went up to the second floor.
Leonel stepped outside and smoked two cigarettes.
As he was about to go back in, he bumped into Marcus.
Marcus had just finished scolding Elva and wanted a cigarette too.
So, Leonel stayed with him.
When men smoke together, they didnât often talk much.
The two remained silent for quite a while.
Finally, Marcus couldnât hold back.
âSo, youâve won over mom and dad.
Is my sister your next target?â
Leonel, holding his cigarette gracefully, took his time blowing a smoke ring before replying casually, âYour sister? Alexis is my sister too!â
Marcus let out a mocking laugh.
âNot many people try to make a move on their own sisters!â
Leonel, unfazed, extinguished his cigarette with a laugh.
âI couldnât help falling for her! And hey, Marcus, from now on, you can call me your brother-in-law, or just your brother, if you prefer.
â
He winked.
âI might even give you some spending money as a loving big brother.
â
Marcus just scoffed in response.
Leonel made his way back to his bedroom, lingering for a while before heading to the third floor, where Alexisâ room was located.
Elva was also there in Alexisâ room.
When she spotted Leonel, she slid off the bed, her cheeks a hint of pink.
âLeonel, are you sleeping here tonight?â
