It jumped off Evelyn and rushed towards Leonel.
With one hand, Leonel picked it up.
He then smoothened its fur with his long fingers before returning it to Evelyn.
As he did, a touch of tenderness appeared in Leonelâs eyes.
âTake good care of it,â he told her.
Upon hearing this, Evelynâs eyes narrowed in confusion.
She didnât quite understand what he was trying to say.

Leonel stared at Evelynâs face for a while.
He wanted to tell her that he was her father, but when he saw Calvin and Alexis sitting side by side, his heart stung, forcing him to say nothing.
Leonel got out of the bedroom as quickly as possible.
Upon leaving the villa, he looked up and saw the last rays of sunset on the horizon, flooding the sky with a golden light.
He stopped in his tracks to admire the picturesque view in front of him.
However, after a while, he began to feel a dull pain in his chest, and his heart started to race.
With trembling fingers, he took out a cigarette and lit it.
âLeonel,â Rena called softly as she slowly approached him from behind.
When she saw him smoking, she couldnât help but frown.
âYouâve got bad lungs.
Didnât the doctor tell you last time to smoke less?â

âI canât help it once in a while.

Despite saying that, he still stubbed out the cigarette.
Rena wanted to say something but was hesitant to speak her thoughts.
In the end, she decided not to say anything.
She just gave him a lecture about his health, similar to how normal parents did it.
âI know, Mom,â Leonel replied, a tinge of bitterness in his eyes.
Rena stared at him for a while before she walked up to him and straightened his collar.

Before Leonel could say something, Alexis came out.
Rena looked back at her daughter and guessed that she and Leonel had something to talk about.
At that point, Rena was at a loss.
She didnât know what to do.
If Alexis had come back alone, Rena and Waylen wouldâve been able to deal with the situation.
But now, Alexis had returned with Calvin.
From the looks of it, the two of them seemed to be romantically involved, which was a different situation from before.
As parents, it wasnât appropriate for Rena and Waylen to interfere.
Even after all these years, Rena managed to retain her gentle nature.
