James grumbled.
âThanks, Mr.
Waston.
â
Jessie was pulled away by Albert.
She cursed under her breath, âYou jerk, where are you dragging me? Iâm not going anywhere⦠And forget about getting in my pants! I wonât! Did you not hear what people just said about me? Youâve already treated me like trash-a cheap thing you played and tossed aside.
What more do you want?â
âDonât talk like that!â
Pressed against the corridor wall, her back ached from the impact.
Across the way, Melissa watched, feeling concerned.
But Marcus just rubbed his chin and remarked, âYour boss, Mr.
Waston, sure knows how to make a scene, huh? What do you think, Melissa?â
âs BunnyBookery
âYawn!
I prefer Mr.
Wastonâs work ethic,â Melissa replied softly.
Marcus peeked into the private room, blocking Melissa from going in.
He nodded towards Albertâs direction and whispered, âIt looks Like theyâre not letting go of each other.
Letâs give them some space.
â
Melissa chewed her lip.
âBut Mr.
Wastonâs married!â
Marcus smirked.
âHeâs got a better grip on his situation than you think! Being married, he knows whatâs off-limits.
If he really cared for Jessie, he wouldnât even lay a finger on her.
â
Melissa eyed him for a moment.
âYou seem to know Mr.
Waston pretty well?â
Marcus countered slowly, âFeeling a bit jealous, are we?â
Meanwhile, Albert was holding Jessieâs face, still feeling the heat from their scuffle.
He caressed her cheek, his voice gravelly.
âDonât say that about yourself!â
Jessie chuckled against the wall, and then c@@ked her head.
Albert.
Everyone in Duefron knows that.
You donât want me!â
He stared at her, and then blurted out, âDo you want me to get a divorce?â
Jessie was taken aback.
Disbelief flashed across her face, as if sheâd just heard the unthinkable.
After a moment, she chuckled.
âCome on, Albert, quit joking!â
Sheâd attended his wedding and he didnât bat an eye.
He just handed her some tissues and carried on with the festivities.
The night she cried her heart out, he was off enjoying his honeymoon.
