He invaded her lips, hungry and forceful.
Despite her struggles, he ki*sed her fervently, pulling her closer.
His touch on her waist was warmâ¦
Heâd been deprived of intimacy for too long, longing for only her.
But when he reached her delicate neck, he stopped abruptly.
Jessie broke into sobs.
âWhy are you crying?â
Albert halted, anguish evident.
âJessie, donât you want me? Iâm single now.
Iâve been lonely for yearsâ¦â
âItâs not my problem.
â
âLet go, or Iâll sue you for harassment.
â
Her voice trembled.
Truth was, she could barely stand.
Clutching the door for support, she pushed him away, slowly.
âI donât want you! You walked away once and now Iâm doing the same,â
Jessie declared firmly.
Taking one last look at Albert, she felt no nostalgia, only shame.
Desperate to leave, Albert grabbed her wrist.
âTidy yourself before you go.
â
She shoved him off and stumbled away, vanishing from his sight, his lifeâ¦
He had it all now but Jessieâs love was long gone.
Thankfully, the top floor was Albertâs domain alone.
In the corridor, Jessie clutched her clothes, tears streaming.
Emma, startled, called out, âMiss Green!â
Taking a shaky breath, Jessie asked, âWhereâs the restroom? I⦠I need a moment.
â
Emma nodded solemnly, leading Jessie to the bathroom.
âNo one uses this one.
Iâll be outside.
Just holler if you need anything.
â
Jessie shook her head.
âDonât wait on me.
But thank you.
â
As the door closed behind her, Jessie slumped against it, collapsing to the floor in tears.
Three years had passed, yet Albert had remained the same old jerk.
