They all wanted a son.
Jessie couldnât enjoy the food.
Despite her discomfort with the spicy meal, Axell remained oblivious to her distress.
Still, Jessie persevered through it, and after, wrapped things up and was about to leave.
Doing dishes in the kitchen, Monica warmly invited Jessie to visit again.
Jessie responded with a smile.
She broached a sensitive topic to Axell during their drive back.
âAxell, what if I canât conceive a boy?â
After Jessie had spoken her mind, Axell found himself lost in a daze.
But he quickly chimed in with a faint grin, âHey, are you doubting my abilities?â
Jessie mumbled, âItâs not that, Axell.
But, letâs face it, nobody can guarantee weâll have a boy⦠What if it turns out to be a girl?
Does that mean we keep trying till we get a son?â
She was crossing the thirty mark.
So Jessie wasnât keen on taking chances.
If Axell and his folks were fixated on having a boy and favored
boys over girls, she wasnât sure she could handle it.
To her, marriage meant mutual respect.
Plus, she didnât want to be used just to produce male heirs to carry on her husbandâs family name.
Seeing Jessie a tad upset, Axell hurriedly added, âBoy or girl, itâs our call.
And if itâs a girl, Iâll be just as thrilled.
If you donât want another kid, itâs fine.
Iâll talk to my parents later.
â
Jessie felt somewhat reassured hearing Axellâs words.
Leaning closer, Axell whispered, âDid I pass the test?â
Jessie nodded casually.
âKind of!â
When people in love were alone, their hearts craved ki*ses and hugs.
So, Axell wrapped his arm around Jessie and murmured, âCan I steal a ki*s now?â
Todayâs events had put Jessie in a sour mood.
So she wasnât feeling too chipper.
As Axell leaned in for a ki*s, Jessie turned her head away.
Disappointed, he gripped the wheel, saying, âStill mad? Iâve said it before, we call the shots.
Forget my folksâ views.
And hey, more kids mean less quality of life.
You think Iâm dumb enough for that?â
Jessie couldnât resist asking, âWhat if we strike it rich one day?
Will you push for more kids?â
Axell chuckled.
âMaybe when Iâm president of the hospital.
â He planted a gentle ki*s on her lips, not taking it seriously.
