Melissa paused for a moment, lowered her head, and continued as quietly as she could, saying, âFrom what Iâve learned, that deranged Axell, believing that youâre Jeslynâs mother, took her, locked her in a dark room, and kept yelling at her to tell him if she was truly yours and Mr.
Wastonâs child.
â
Jessie swallowed hard and muttered weakly, âWhereâs she now?â
Melissa pursed her lips for a moment and then replied, âSheâs now receiving psychological treatment and weâve been informed that it might take her some time to be comfortable around people.
â
Jessie nodded slowly and continued to follow Melissa down the corridor toward Albertâs ward.
ALL of sudden, she stopped in her tracks, looked at Melissa, and mumbled something unintelligible.
Still, Melissa was able to guess what Jessie wanted to say.
Although Albert had always been tight-lipped about Jeslynâs identity to Melissa, she had still been able to figure out who Jeslyn really was thanks to what she learnt from Marcus.
With a soft smile on Melissaâs face, she squeezed Jessieâs hand lightly and said, âOne of the reasons why Jeslyn has always been loved by Mr.
Waston was because of the resemblance between her name and yours.
For quite some time, Mr.
Waston deemed it impossible to be with you, hence Jeslyn became his primary emotional support.
Whenever he called her name, it likely evoked memories of you and the past you guys had together, perhaps leading to regret.
Taking this into account, itâs hardly a surprise that he risked his life to save Jeslyn from Axell.
He simply loves her that much.
â
Melissaâs words were followed by a silent gesture of comfort as she patted Jessie on the shoulder.
With a deep breath, Jessie nodded slowly and said, âIâll go inside to see him now.
â
With that, she pushed the door of the super VIP ward open and walked into an impressively Large room.
There was a reception room, at the end of which was Albertâs room.
As they walked towards Albertâs room, Melissa informed Jessie that Jeslyn, refusing to be separated from her dad even for a moment, was staying together with Elsie in a small suite that was behind Albertâs and was asleep there.
Inside the ward, a pale-faced Albert was leaning against the bedâs headrest and was nodding along as his
subordinates updated him on what was going on at his company, the Waston Group.
When Melissa walked in with Jessie, he looked up at them and widened his eyes in shock.
Although they had met a few days ago and their relationship had moved forward a little, seeing Jessie now still surprised him.
For her to come back so soon, was she finally warming up to him?
He smiled softly at Jessie and murmured, âYou are here.
â
Since his subordinates were around, Albert made sure not to appear too ecstatic.
As Jessie walked up to him, Albert sat up and the thin quilt that was covering him slipped down to his abdomen, exposing the bloodstained white gauze that was covering his wound.
Without saying anything, Jessie, now pale-faced, lifted the quilt and stared at his wound.
Albert let her do what she wanted and then said smugly, âSeems Like youâre worried about me.
â
Jessie raised her head slightly, her throat tightened as she suppressed her emotions, and asked, âAlbert, are you aware that your spleen is injured? Shouldnât you be resting so as to have a successful recovery? Why on earth would you be getting yourself involved in work right now? Whatâs wrong with you? If you die, would you take your money to the grave?â
Jessieâs words made the senior executives of the Waston Group that were around mumble uncomfortably.
They were afraid that Jessie was going to get into trouble for speaking to their boss like that.
She just acted in a way that none of them could dare to.
However, Albert simply continued to stare at her, his eyes weak and yet gentle.
He cherished her current demeanor, admiring her boldness, s@xiness, and lack of fear for him.
