He looked up at Daniel, who added awkwardly, âMommy will be upset if she finds out.
â
Leonel replied softly, âThen letâs keep this between us, okay?â
Daniel bit his Lip.
He didnât voice it, but he inwardly disapproved of such actions.
Leonel felt a bit embarrassed.
It was just a ki*s, yet he reacted with such impulsiveness and passion.
He said no more and fed Daniel his late dinner.
Now that Daniel had recovered, he gobbled up twelve dumplings straight away.
Glancing at the over twenty dumplings left, he remarked, âThey wonât taste as good tomorrow.
â
Leonel stroked Danielâs head gently and offered, âIf you want more, Iâll make them for you tomorrow.
â
Full and tired, Daniel felt like sleeping again.
He lay his head on the soft pillow and just looked at Leonel, saying nothing.
âAre you still upset with daddy?â Leonel asked as he caressed Danielâs face.
Daniel nodded.
Leonelâs face fell a little in disappointment, but he didnât say anything more.
Instead, he just soothed Daniel, trying to help him fall asleep.
Daniel drifted off quickly.
Leonel sat in silence for a while.
Alexis hadnât appeared.
She probably wanted to avoid confronting the situation about the ki*s.
She had decided to stay away and act as if nothing had happened.
After all, it was not the time nor the place for arguments or outbursts in Danielâs hospital room.
Their history was full of struggles, but now they both tried and kept their composure, showing no emotion.
As Leonel stood by the window, he noticed a few snowflakes drifting outside.
They fell gently, vanishing quickly as if they had never existed.
Leonel wondered if he would be haunted by past memories for the rest of his life.
He realized he had no place in Alexisâ future and no right to even inquire about it.
It was late into the night.
By the window stood Leonel, while in another room, Alexis sat at the head of the bed, both lost in their thoughts.
Whether out of love or resentment, they were on each otherâs minds.
