Leonel leaned back, cursing, âWhat a traitor!â
But Marcus knew he wasnât blaming the driver.
âHe means well, you know,â Marcus said with a grin.
âSo, whatâs your plan now? Donât you wanna see Cordelia, huh? I saw her last night and held her in my arms; she is as cute as a button!â
Leonelâs heart raced at Marcusâ mention of Cordelia.
But he played it cool.
Gently touching the sofa arm, he hesitated before asking, âYour sister, sheâ¦â
Marcus glanced at him.
âAlexis? Sheâs doing well, too.
Although, she is still single! My parents are trying to set her up.
Sheâs open to it if they click.
â
Leonelâs heart sank at the news.
Still, he acted indifferent.
âMakes sense.
Lifeâs short.
Better find someone sooner.
â
Marcus watched him closely, puffing his cigarette.
After finishing, he stood up.
âYouâre right, stubborn idiot!â
He chuckled.
After a pause, he then continued, âWell, Iâve brought you the things, so mission accomplished! Iâll be off to report to my wife.
Melissaâs all worried about you.
It makes me jealous!â
With that, Marcus departed.
Leonel fired up the car engine.
Marcus had been visiting less lately.
Right after the accident, heâd drop by almost every other day, always saying something to rile Leonel up.
At first, Leonel didnât like it.
No guy wants to expose his miserable side to others.
But he later just got used to it.
Sometimes, while the doctor massaged him, Marcus would just sit there quietly.
Despite the car accident, Leonel did return to the Fowler house.
Heâd said if he split with Alexis, it was for good.
Since Alexis was considering seeing someone else, why bother her again?
After Marcus left, Leonel stayed home for a week, for no reason really.
Then he had to go out for a big projectâs signing ceremony.
It was to be hosted at a fancy business club.
