Hester found herself in a challenging situation due to Oliviaâs actions.
Her gaze shifted toward Leonel.
With a sigh, Leonel motioned for her to leave before turning his attention to Olivia.
âEnough with the tantrums,â he scolded.
âIf you upsets her, Iâll have to clean up your mess Later.
â
Olivia was completely baffled.
Gazing up at Leonel, Olivia questioned, âYouâre worried about her feelings, but what about Alexisâ? Can you simply ignore hers, Leonel? I canât fathom how you can move on from the past and accept a stranger as your wife, replacing Alexis.
â
Leonel regarded her in silence.
After a brief pause, he spoke up softly.
âThen what would you suggest? Should I remind her that my leg is crippled because of her, hoping sheâd feel guilty and return to care for me for the rest of her life, witnessing my disabled state? Olivia, do you believe such a marriage could be fulfilling? We havenât resolved our past issues, and now weâre confronted with a bunch of new ones.
Do you really think we can go back to how things once were just because I lost a leg for her?â
Prior to the car accident, despite Leonelâs decision to move on, a faint hope lingered within his heart.
He hoped that they could reconcile one day.
Yet, when he lay on the operating table, witnessing his mangled leg, that hope was utterly crushed.
Tears welled up in Leonelâs eyes as he spoke.
Seeing this, Olivia felt her stubbornness melt away instantly.
She reached for his arm, reminiscent of their childhood, and softly called out, âLeonel.
â
Recognizing her newfound calmness, Leonel took a step back and settled onto the couch.
âLetâs return home together later and have dinner,â he suggested.
Olivia nodded in agreement but couldnât resist asking, âIs that woman truly your girlfriend? She doesnât appear to be to me.
â
Leonel responded flatly, âYou shouldnât concern yourself with adult matters.
â
Olivia made a face at him.
Shortly after, Edwin called Olivia, asking about her whereabouts and informing her that Laura wished for her presence at home for dinner.
Learning that Laura had prepared a lavish dinner, Oliviaâs inclination to go to his brotherâs place surged.
Yet, recalling her obligation and Leonelâs wish to dine at the Fowlerâs, she reasoned that it had been a while since Leonel had the opportunity to spend time formally with his family, and she was determined to help him.
Upon hearing Oliviaâs words, Edwin promptly altered the plan, advising Laura, âForget about cooking.
Weâll dine together at the Uncle Waytenâs.
â
Laura was clueless about the situation.
Edwin loosened her apron and affectionately pinched her cheek, remarking with a smile, âItâll be lively over there tonight.
â
The mansion buzzed with activity that evening as nearly all the younger members of the Fowler and Evans families had gathered.
Due to his scandalous new relationship, Leonel appeared unfazed about revealing his leg issue, but he still tried to walk steadily when he got out of the car.
Observing him in that state, the servants felt a pang of sympathy.
