âI can manage on my own,â Olivia insisted.
Edwin gave her a stern look.
âI am your brother, so donât argue with me! Just open your mouth and be a good girl.
â
Olivia acquiesced, realizing she had no other option.
As Edwin fed her the soup, he casually asked, âHave you crossed paths with Dylan? He refused to reconcile with you, didnât he?â
Olivia remained silent.
Edwin continued with a faint smile, âThe woman he brought to the hospital is named Gina; she spent her formative years abroad.
â
He paused briefly before continuing, âDylan purchased a winery some time ago and has been actively managing the wine business.
Gina serves as his assistant.
As for their relationship, itâs not my place to comment on it.
â
Olivia pondered Edwinâs words in silence for a while.
As she neared the end of the bowl of soup, Olivia finally spoke up softly.
âBut thatâs not the issue at hand.
What concerns me is Dylanâs attitude! I used to believe I held a special place in his heart, but today I saw his affection for another woman.
Despite our two-year separation, he seems to disregard the time thatâs passed as evidence of our love.
He even suggests I spend another two years deciding between Raphael and him.
â
Olivia looked up at her brother and added, âIf Leyla is indeed his daughter, I wouldnât be grappling with such a predicament.
I could have confronted him about it.
But no, I feel utterly helpless now.
Iâm at a loss for what to do.
He doesnât actually give me any option, Edwin.
â
Olivia forced a bitter smile and fell silent.
She turned her head and gazed at the moonlight streaming through the window.
In that moment, it appeared she had determined her next course of action.
Edwin gently caressed her head, smiling warmly.
âYouâre a big girl now, and the decision is yours to make.
For now, you need to have some rest.
â
With those words, Edwin tucked his sister in and then crashed on the couch.
But it was impossible for Olivia to fall asleep.
Every time she closed her eyes, the image of Dylan carrying the young woman haunted her thoughts.
She couldnât help but wonder if he truly cared about their marriage at all at this point.
At the very least, Dylan should have made an effort to explain things to her.
But he didnât.
The following morning, feeling better, Olivia was discharged, and Edwin escorted her home.
Having spent just one night in the hospital, Olivia had no belongings to gather.
Seated on the sofa, she sent a text to her lawyer, requesting the drafting of some legal documents.
As she hit send, she noticed a beautiful woman standing by the door.
Edwin mentioned her name was Gina, the same as Dylanâs dog.
The irony wasnât lost on Olivia.
The previous day, Olivia had expressed her desire to raise the dog together with Dylan.
Olivia offered a bitter smile.
Ginaâs kind and innocent appearance stirred memories of Oliviaâs past self.
Gina refrained from entering the room, opting to stand by the door as she said softly, âI care deeply for Dylan.
Iâm aware of your separation.
If your feelings for him have changed, may I have him? I assure you, Iâll care for him dearly.
