Mark had Dylan leave the next day after what happened, worried he might again behave improperly towards Olivia.
Before departing, Dylan gave Olivia a sorrowful look.
However, Olivia intentionally avoided his eyes, focusing instead on her soup.
Dylan watched her silently for an extended period.
Finally, Edwin intervened, urging him to leave.
âThatâs enough! Stop wasting time!â
Dylan complied without fuss, quickly gathered his belongings, scooped up Leyla with one arm, and encouraged the little girl to bid Olivia farewell.
Despite having recently had her second child, Olivia still showed equal affection for Leyla.
She blew Leyla a kiss and gently kissed her cheek.
âStay with Dylan for a few days, honey.
Weâll go home together once Iâm discharged from the hospital, okay?â
Leyla was visibly pleased about spending time with Dylan.
After giving Olivia and then her baby brother a kiss, she left with Dylan, following his lead.
Once they left, Edwin turned to Mark, incredulous.
âYou just let him walk away, Dad? And you let him take Leyla too? How could you be so lenient?â
Sitting with a newspaper, Mark responded calmly, âYou think Iâm being soft on him? Didnât you notice Leyla called him daddy? Being a father isnât easy.
He has to put in a lot of effort to look after the little girl.
Heâll be too busy and tired to cause any trouble for Olivia while Leyla is with him.
â
Edwin was at a loss for words.
Olivia started to speak, a bit flustered.
âDad, he didnât.
.
â
But before she could finish, Mark dismissed the topic, setting his newspaper aside.
âThat bastard had too much free time lately.
Heâll learn his lesson looking after Leyla on his own.
â
Edwin was so taken aback by Markâs remark that he gave him a thumbs-up.
Meanwhile, as Olivia sipped her soup, she checked a message from Dylan on WhatsApp.
âDid you tell your father about yesterday?â
The message seemed straightforward, yet its vagueness hinted at the previous nightâs events.
Olivia briefly looked at her phone before setting it aside.
On the sofa, Mark adjusted his reading glasses and suggested casually, âDylan seems quite adept at caring for the children.
Perhaps he could take on more of that responsibility with Leyla and Eason in the future? I donât think a woman should always have to be the one looking after her kids.
â
Cecilia quickly called him out for his hypocrisy.
She glanced at Edwin and Olivia, and then rebuked, âDonât listen to him.
He never said such things when I was the one giving birth to you.
â
Edwin couldnât help but laugh as he lifted Eason from his cot and approached Mark.
Studying Easonâs face, Mark commented quietly, âWell, such a handsome little fellow!â
