Chapter 696 Inviting Her To Lunch âIâll find some time to talk to Benjamin about him deducting your one-month pay,â Arissa offered. Edwin grinned. âI shall await your good news, Mrs.
Graham. If itâs you doing the talking, Iâm sure youâll succeed.â
His comment had her smiling diffidently. âIâll try my best. But if it doesnât work out, let me compensate you. Itâs just that I donât know how much he pays you.â
He merely smiled instead of answering her question. In truth, losing a monthâs pay did not bother him. Benjamin always gave them lots of incentives and other benefits at the end of each year, after all.
âPlease donât, Mrs. Graham. If anything, it should be Mr. Graham who pays me.â
Suddenly, Arissaâs phone rang.
Seeing that the call was from Darius, she hastily picked it up.
âIssa! I heard from Benjamin that you didnât come to the hospital because you were in bed. Are you not feeling well?â
The womanâs heart felt warm and fuzzy as she heard how concerned Darius sounded.
âIâm fine, Old Mr. Graham,â she replied kindly. âI just overslept a little this morning. Iâm not unwell.â
âSeriously, that boy, Benjamin! He never tells me anything, even when I ask him. Anyway, Iâm about to head over to Yaleview. Are you home now, or are you outside?â
âIâm at the hospital with my grandaunt right now. Is something the matter, Old Mr. Graham?â she asked gently.
âI had William prepare you some food. Iâll send it over to you.â
Arissa was deeply moved. âYou can get someone else to do it, Old Mr. Graham. Weâll be having lunch here. You donât have to go through the trouble to come over here yourself.â
âItâs not like I have much else to do anyway. Iâm heading over now. Itâs also a good opportunity to pay your grandaunt a visit.â
Darius hung up right after saying that.
Arissa was at a loss for words.
âIs Old Mr. Graham coming over?â Edwin asked, smiling from ear to ear.
The woman nodded. âHe said heâs prepared us some food.â
He laughed. âHe really adores you.â
Arissa felt touched too. Despite all the rumors about his character, the elderly man had never been difficult toward her.
Heâs always been so nice to me and the children.
âIâd say itâs because of the children,â she mentioned casually.
âNot at all. He really is fond of you. It has nothing to do with the children.â Edwin turned to her. âOld Mr. Graham is always especially forbidding toward everyone else. Youâll realize that as you get to know him better. Heâs also quite stern toward Mr. Graham, even though itâs not too obvious.â
Arissa smiled in response. Itâs more like Benjamin keeps getting on Old Mr. Grahamâs nerves. If the children werenât around, I would have asked Benjamin why he has such an awkward relationship with his father. I can tell that Old Mr. Graham does care about Benjamin a lot, but for some reason, Benjamin seems to have some sort of grudge against him.
Just as she pondered over that matter, her phone rang again.
Noticing Benjaminâs name on the screen, she stilled briefly before answering the call.
âHello?â
âHave you eaten?â
âNot yet.â
She walked out of the ward.
âGive me ten minutes,â the man said to her.
Arissaâs heart skipped a beat as she heard that.
Is he inviting me to lunch?
âAre you coming over?â

Arissa froze. Heâs taking me out to lunch without the kids?
âBut weâve already ordered our food at the hospital.â
The children would be so heartbroken if I were to leave them behind to enjoy a good meal.
âGet ready. I have a lunch appointment at twelve.â
Benjamin hung up right after clarifying the situation.
A lunch appointment?
Arissa looked at the time and realized that it was almost half-past eleven.
Then, she glanced down at her outfit and concluded that it was presentable for a lunch appointment.
After returning to the ward, she stood at the entrance and beckoned Edwin over. âIâll be attending a lunch appointment with Benjamin. Could you please watch over the kids and take them home after lunch?â
âOf course, Mrs. Graham. Donât worry. Enjoy your date with Mr. Graham! Iâll take good care of the children,â he responded cheerily.
Arissa was taken aback. âItâs not a date! Itâs a lunch appointment with someone else!â
Edwin merely smiled. Itâs definitely a date.
âCould you also let Old Mr. Graham know when he gets here?â she asked, rubbing her forehead slightly.
The butler nodded. âCertainly.â
