He took the little pink box off the teddy bear and kneeled down on one knee. He opened it, revealing a silver ring with a pink diamond on top of it.

"Don't worry, I'm not proposing," he reassured me. "I know we are still too young for marriage."

I smiled at him, not knowing what to say.

"Catherine, I love you. You are everything to me. From the day I met you, I have become a better guy. A man even. You changed me for good, without even knowing it," he blushed a bit and scratched his head. "Promise rings are the very first step of a long journey a couple will take together. And I want to take this journey with you."

His words made me tear up. I wiped a small tear from the edge of my eye with my index finger.

"When you look at this ring, I hope it reminds you of my promise to never stop loving you and my intent to marry you some day. One day, I promise, I'll replace it with an engagement ring and a wedding band. That's if you want to, of course," he added, looking at me with sparkling eyes.

"I do," I said biting my lip, letting a tear fall on my cheek. "I love you, Tyler. I love you so much."

He took my left hand and put the ring in my middle finger. He kissed my hand and stood up.

The girl from the stall, along with some children and a young couple, clapped, making me blush and hide my face into Tyler's chest.

.......

That night, we didn't go home. We parked the car near the beach and slept under the stars.

At some point, though, we got cold and got in the car. We cuddled in the backseat and fell back to sleep.

In the morning, the sun blasted through the windows, waking me up.

I didn't wake up Tyler. I just sat there, looking at the promise ring he had given me the previous night, being happier than ever.

I never thought that we would end up promising to each other. It was like getting married.

I hope we will keep our promise and get married one day.

"Happy birthday, baby," Tyler whispered, without opening his eyes.

"Thanks," I smiled, still admiring the beauty of the ring.

"Do you like it?" he asked.

"I love it. I love you," I told him truthfully.

"I love you too."

"Can we go home now? I want to tell everyone about this!" I said, excited to announce the good news.

"Yeah," he chuckled. "Let's go," he said, kissing the tip of my nose.

When we got home, there was nobody in the living room or in the kitchen.

I looked at Tyler confused.

Where could they be? We are supposed to be having a party.

Or at least prepare one.

Tyler pointed at the door that lead to the back yard. I walked towards it and got outside.

Everybody, including Hayden, my brothers, Allison, Elsa, Alexa and Ryan were there, setting up the barbecue and fooling around.

"Happy birthday!" everyone shouted and came to hug me.

Tyler walked towards Hayden and bro hugged him, wishing him happy birthday.

Wasn't that sweet? Two of my favourite people in the world, being friendly with each other.

Next, Hayden came to me.

"Happy birthday, Cat," he said, picking me up and kissing my cheek.

"Happy birthday, idiot," I returned the kiss.

"I think it's time to tell them," Hayden told me, smiling.

"You knew about this?!" I asked half surprised, half confused.

"If I didn't know about this, who would?" he winked. "Now go," he pushed me towards where the others were sitting.

I cleared my throat, making everyone look at me. Even Ryan, who was grilling the burgers, turned to me.

I hope these don't get burnt.

"I want to tell you something," I told them, smiling. I took Tyler's hand and dragged him towards me. He blushed a little, but kissed my cheek. "Tyler gave me a promise ring."

The girls awwed. Elsa jumped up and down, smiling. My brothers looked as if they didn't even know what a promise ring was. And the guys as always, smirked.

And even though I didn't have my parents with me, I felt like I was with my family.

My new, amazing, mostly consisted by idiots, family. And I wouldn't never even think of changing it for another one.

The End.

I want to thank you all for reading and supporting the story all along. You are the best, and I hope you liked the story as much as I liked writing it.

I am not sure if I am going to write about the "future" of Cyler/Tatherine/Catler or whatever you call it. If you want me to, comment about it.
