Chapter 1345 Motive
âYou really think I wouldnât notice? In fact, I was deliberately trying to confuse you.â Lana smiled smugly
and pointed at Xavier. âYouâve missed out on something. Even though youâve already tried your best to
dress up as a Turlenese, youâve forgotten something.â
âAnd pray tell what I forgot?â Xavier was intrigued.
âYou have a tattoo there.â Lana pointed at a spot below Xavierâs neck. Although he tried to cover it with
his shirt, she still spotted it.
âWhatâs so weird about having a tattoo? Itâs not like Iâm the only one here with a tattoo,â Xavier said
nonchalantly. Throughout the half a month he had spent with Dillon, he had also seen a tattoo on him.
Hence, he wasnât fazed by the fact that Lana had seen it.
âYouâre quite a stubborn bloke, arenât you? Must you force me to say it out loud?â Lana was getting
pissed at Xavierâs continuous denial. She scoffed and said, âYour tattoo is something different. Itâs an
eagle. Thatâs the symbol of the international detective ranking system.â
Xavierâs eyes flickered when he heard that. He didnât expect someone to recognize it. So what? As
long as I keep denying it, thereâs nothing she can do. He scoffed and answered, âYouâre quite good at
talking crap, arenât you?â
âIâm not talking crap!â Lana continued pridefully, âIâve been to countless countries and seen all sorts of
people. Iâve been told by a friend of mine about that tattoo of yours. Heâs a detective as well, but he
couldnât make it into the ranking system. His lifelong wish is to make it there and have a tattoo like
yours.â
In truth, Lana was a huge admirer of detectives. She was very fond of them because detectives were
capable of solving all sorts of problems. She was getting upset because Xavier didnât want to admit it.
Despite how she felt, a glint appeared in her eyes. She leaned toward Xavierâs ear and whispered,
âDonât deny it. You do know that the more you try to explain yourself, the more itâs incriminating you,
right? No matter what you say, you canât deny the fact that youâre a foreigner. Do you know what
happened to all those foreigners that Iâve exposed in the past?â
That was the first time Xavier had been so near to someone of the opposite sex, and he wasnât used to
it. He took a step back and said, âI donât know what youâre talking about. Since youâre unwilling to let
me stay here, Iâll go somewhere else then.â With that, he took the ID card off of Lanaâs hand and turned
around to leave.
When Lana saw that Xavier was about to leave the hotel, she shouted, âHey! Donât leave. Let me
finish!â She hurried out of the front desk and said, âIâll tell you something. In this country, being a
foreigner is against the law. If youâre exposed, no oneâs going to help you.â
Lanaâs words got Xavier thinking about his options. If she doesnât report me to the authorities, no oneâs
going to find out Iâm not from Turlen. After all, I doubt thereâs anyone else in Turlen like her, who has
been to so many places and knows so much.
With that thought in mind, Xavier said, âDonât worry about me.â He wanted to leave right after he said
that. However, Lana stopped him again and uttered, âStay here. Donât worry. I wonât report you.â
Xavier looked at her skeptically. If youâre not going to report me, why did you say so much just now
then?
âI promise you that I wonât report you. Really. So, just stay here,â Lana urged. Deny all you want, but
Iâm certain youâre not from Turlen.
Xavier raised his brows and questioned, âWhatâs your motive?â He couldnât help but think she had her
motives for wanting him to stay so badly.
Lana snorted angrily in response. Motive? Why would I have one? Obviously, I just want to learn some
skills from him as a detective. Since she had never had a chance to learn any of that, she was rather
fascinated.
Wait, doesnât that mean I do have a motive for getting him to stay? Guilt flashed across Lanaâs face
instantly.
Under Xavierâs skeptical eyes, Lana answered guiltily, âI just want to learn your skills as a detective.â
