Gayathri's Monday morning started like any other. She dropped Vaiga off at school and headed to the hospital for her rounds. But little did she know, her day was about to take a dramatic turn.
As she was examining a patient, her phone rang. It was Gopi Anna. "Gayathri, watch the news," he said, his voice urgent.
Gayathri's curiosity was piqued. She quickly pulled out her phone and opened YouTube, searching for a news channel. As she scrolled through the videos, one headline caught her eye: "City Police Commissioner Vivek Caught on Camera Hitting College Students."
Gayathri's heart sank as she played the video. The footage showed Vivek, in his police uniform, hitting a group of college students on the university campus. The media was blaming him for his arrogant behavior.
Gayathri felt restless, wondering what Vivek was doing. The incident in the video had happened that morning, and now Vivek was facing the media live.
As she watched, a journalist asked Vivek, "What was the need to hit the students?"
Vivek replied, "We had received a tip about a drug racket operating within the college campus. When we tried to investigate, the students blocked us from doing our duty."
Another journalist asked, "Is this behavior because you're the son of the state home minister?"
Vivek's expression turned stern. "I've done my duty as the city police commissioner. We've seized 20 kg of MDMA from the campus, and we've busted a major drug racket. My actions were not influenced by my family connections, but by my duty to uphold the law."
Gayathri watched, her mind racing with questions. What was Vivek involved in? And why was he being so aggressive?
Just then, her phone rang again. It was Vivek's mother. "Gayathri, where is Vivek? Why isn't he answering my calls?" she asked, sounding worried.
Gayathri explained that she had just seen Vivek on the news, and that he was busy with a case. Vivek's mother told her that his father was very angry with him, and asked Gayathri to tell Vivek to call him.
Gayathri called Vivek, and he answered on the third ring. "Yes, Gayathri?" he said calmly.
Gayathri expressed her concern, "Vivek, your mother called me. Why aren't you answering her calls? Your dad is angry with you. And what's going on with the college students? Why did you hit them?"
Vivek replied calmly, "Gayathri, we can talk about this in the evening. I'm a bit busy now, okay?"
