One month had passed since the attack, and Vivek's hand had somewhat recovered, although it was still not fully healed. The family had settled into a routine, with Gayathri taking care of Vivek and Vaiga.
One morning, as Gayathri was serving breakfast to Vivek and Vaiga, she suddenly felt dizzy. Vivek's mother, who was sitting nearby, noticed Gayathri's unease and asked, "What happened to you, Gayathri? You look pale."
Gayathri tried to brush it off, but she felt her legs wobble beneath her. Vivek, sensing something was wrong, quickly stood up and caught hold of Gayathri, supporting her.
"What happened?" Vivek asked, concern etched on his face.
Gayathri tried to balance herself, taking deep breaths. "I think I'm not well," she said. "I woke up early today and felt a bit off."
Vivek's mother, Amma, looked at Gayathri with a knowing glint in her eye. "Are you sure it's just that, or is it something else?" she teased.
Gayathri's eyes widened as she realized what Amma might be hinting at. She quickly did a mental calculation and realized that she had missed her period. A wave of excitement and nervousness washed over her.
Vivek, oblivious to the conversation, continued to support Gayathri, asking her if she needed to sit down or if he should call the doctor.
Gayathri smiled weakly, trying to play it cool. "I'm fine, Vivek. Just a bit dizzy, that's all."
But Amma's knowing look told Gayathri that she wasn't fooled.
Vivek was over concerned about Gayathri. "You should take it easy today," he said. "Don't go to the hospital."
But Gayathri had already made up her mind. "I have to go, Vivek," she said. "I have a urgent surgery to do."
Vivek nodded reluctantly, and Gayathri headed to the hospital, she went to the pharmacy and bought a pregnancy test kit.
Her heart was racing as she entered the bathroom and opened the kit. She followed the instructions and waited anxiously for the results.
Finally, the test revealed its answer - two pink lines stared back at her. She was pregnant!
Gayathri felt overwhelmed. She didn't know how to reveal this to Vivek. She decided to call him and break the news gently.
"Vivek, I..." she started, her voice trembling.
"Yes, Gayathri, tell me," Vivek replied, concern etched in his voice.
Gayathri took a deep breath. "I love you, Vivek."
"I love you too, honey," Vivek replied, unaware of the news Gayathri had just received.
Gayathri smiled, feeling a mix of emotions. She couldn't wait to share the news with Vivek in person.
At evening, Gayathri rushed home to reveal the news to Vivek. But as she entered the house, she was taken aback by the sight of Janaki sitting next to Vivek, chatting with him.
Gayathri felt a pang of unease. She thought to herself, "Is history repeating?"
