After the revelation of Gayathri's pregnancy, Vivek became extremely overprotective of her. He was always hovering around her, making sure she was comfortable and safe.
Gayathri, who was initially touched by Vivek's concern, soon began to feel suffocated by his overbearing behavior. She couldn't even go to the bathroom without Vivek following her, asking if she was okay.
"Vivek, I'm fine," Gayathri would say, exasperated. "You don't have to follow me everywhere."
But Vivek wouldn't listen. He would insist on accompanying her to the hospital, to the kitchen, even to the garden. He would constantly ask her if she was feeling tired, if she needed to rest, if she was eating enough.
Gayathri's mother-in-law, who had initially been amused by Vivek's behavior, soon began to intervene. "Vivek, beta, you're being too overprotective," she would say. "Gayathri is a strong woman, she can take care of herself."
But Vivek wouldn't listen. He was convinced that Gayathri needed his constant protection and care. He would even wake up in the middle of the night to check on her, to make sure she was comfortable and safe.
Vivek's overprotectiveness was also fueled by guilt and regret. He had not been able to take care of Gayathri during her first pregnancy with Vaiga, and he felt like he had failed her.
"I wasn't there for you when you were pregnant with Vaiga," Vivek would say, his voice filled with emotion. "I wasn't able to take care of you like I should have. But this time, I'm going to make sure that you're safe and happy.
"Vivek, please," Gayathri would say, her voice firm but gentle. "I appreciate your concern, but I need some space. I need to be able to take care of myself."
But Vivek wouldn't budge. He was convinced that he was doing the right thing, that he was protecting Gayathri and their unborn child.
