First off, sorry I haven't updated when I should have. I've been sick and in the hospital. As soon as I could type the chapter and post it, I did.

Secondly, I hope you enjoy :)

================================

The days that followed proved critical for both Alex and Asha. the council has arrived just as planned to discuss the current crisis, alex's vital signs had gotten better but she remained comatose.

Dr Cheyenne devoted her time fully to taking care of the blonde, no one had come asking about her, her description didn't match any of the missing persons report at nearby police stations, she remained anonymous.

The monotone clicking of the heart monitor didn't seem to upset the eerie feeling that reigned in the room. Cheyenne was seated by the bed reading a book by her favorite author, nothing seemed to have changed in the past hours and the doctor saw death looming overhead, Alex was, for all intents and purposes, dead.

Asha knocked on the door trying to snap Cheyenne out of her book.

"Asha... I didn't hear you come in" the doctor spoke up softly, Asha had taken a seat at the bottom of the king sized bed where Alex rested motionless.

"find out anything about her?" Cheyenne marked the page on her book and looked up at Asha

The redhead had a troubled look on her face, though she tried to hide it, Cheyenne could see right through her façade

"is there anything bothering you Asha?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.

Asha stared blankly at the wall opposite to where she sat. She let out a sigh and began to speak with a shaky voice

" her name is Alexandra Stone, goes by Alex though" Asha paused taking a deep breath to calm herself

"Chey, Alexandra is my downfall, my other half, she will be the death of me"

Asha seemed so sure of what she said yet so perplexed by it, Cheyenne couldn't wrap her mind around it...

Cheyenne shook her head protesting "she can't be, how did you know? That's not possible" she continued "she's just a human!"

Asha's expression turned into a mournful one "in time you'll see doc....any improvements?" Asha inquired closing her eyes and inhaling deeply

"her vitals are stable" sighed Cheyenne

"I honestly don't know why she haven't woken up yet" the doctor added.

"keep me updated will you Chey?" Asha asked almost pleadingly before heading out of the room, leaving Cheyenne to her book in hopes that Alex would wake up soon.

Ishtar was the last of the council members to arrive, with Viktor tagging along. Her journey was the farthest, from east Iraq to the west. Such a travel proved tiresome even for an elder vampire.

The elder retired to her room, attempting to unwind after such a strenuous voyage while vlad joined the rest of the council in preparation for the upcoming meeting.

With her luggage by the door, Ishtar began to undress languidly exposing tanned supple skin, the clothes she wore glided down her flesh and pooled at her feet. The elder sensed a change in the atmosphere, a very sweet and familiar scent lingered in the air.

Asha stood at the door admiring her former mentor and lover as the latter disrobed in tempting and sensual moves.

"still as beautiful as ever Ishtar" Asha spoke up, her voice melodic yet somehow nostalgic. Ishtar turned slowly and swayed her hips as she made her way towards the red-headed vampire

The elder traced Asha's jawline and trailed the tip of her finger over the redhead's quivering lips. The vampire, with her fiery locks, leaned into her former mistress's touch inching closer until their lips entangled.

The kiss merely lasted a moment but when their lips parted, Ishtar smiled sweetly "indeed, it has been an eternity my dear"

Asha nodding taking her creator's hand, looking down with a solemn expression at the olive tanned skin set in contrast against her own pallid complexion.

"what ails you my sweetest Asha? You seem rather distraught" Ishtar beckoned, her voiced laced with deep worry and compassion.

The elder lead her first creation to the edge of the bed, sitting down beside her on the comfortable mattress.

Asha shook her head as if to dissipate the thoughts that had captured her attention, she sat up straight and smiled

" I'm truly glad you made it Ishtar. I was unsure whether you'd attend. This only concerns Bashaa , Arshaka, Sekhemet and myself. In truth, I called for you because I am in need of advice" came Asha's response to the elder's pleading voice of reason.

The raven haired woman's hand came to rest tenderly on Asha's face

"I am glad you still seek my advice" Ishtar began, her eyes, as two orbs of some mysterious source sought to meet Asha's fleeting ones, but to no avail.

The elder sighed and resumed " but I cannot offer advice my dear if I know not of the problem at hand" she caught Asha's eyes for a brief moment before the redhead diverted her gaze.

Ishtar resigning her previous efforts to help Asha stood from the bed and walked towards the latched door of her chambers.

"it seems you are unwilling to share your problems with me, when you are ready you know where to find me" the elder concluded and made her way into the bathroom.

The bathtub, filled to the brink, steamed. The hot water released vapor into the air coating the marble tiles and mirror.

Ishtar eased herself into the tub and threw her head back, relaxing after the long travel, trying not to think about Asha's troubles.

The redhead sat on the bed, lost in her thoughts, her body moved as if it had a mind of its own. She pushed herself off the mattress and shed her clothes. slipping into the bathroom and into the water, her movements sent ripples slashing against Ishtar's skin. The water spilled off the sides and flooded the floor, Ishtar opened her eyes and examined Asha as she made a cut along her wrist.

Ishtar sighed and began to speak "Asha I ...." but was cut off by the redhead who pulled her into a deep kiss. Their tongues fueled for dominance, each of their auras radiating with intense passion.

Asha then pulled away and presented her bleeding wrist to Ishtar, the elder then understood that the redhead was offering her memories and not her blood.

The water was colored a diluted red, an almost pink-ish shade. The raven haired elder brought her lips to the smoldering skin that was Asha's, her tongue teasing the ragged cut along the redhead's wrist.

The blood flowed like crimson velvet down Ishtar's throat and with it a century's worth of memories. A disturbing vision soon came to light, the disturbing images shook Ishtar to her hearthstone.

She backed away suddenly, her black orbs widened in a state of utter shock

"how.....could it be?!" Ishtar's voice was trembling with anguish after what she had witnessed.

Asha's head was thrown back as if she was consumed by pleasurable pain that had paralysed her body. She slowly readjusted her position, noticing the look upon her mentor's face, she hastily stood and gathered her scattered pieces of clothes, then hurried to her own room. Leaving Ishtar soaking in the scarlet tainted water overcome by shock.

Dr. Cheyenne Lavoie sat in her usual chair, the one she'd occupied for the previous two weeks. Alex's vitals were still stable but her lack of consciousness worried Dr. Lavoie, she feared Gabriel had done irreparable damage to the poor girl.

Ishtar wandered into the room with hushed footsteps, she stood next to Lavoie without a word.

Moments passed in complete silence, no sound in the room besides the monotonous beeping of the cardiograph.

"will she survive her injuries Cheyenne?" Ishtar asked even though she knew the answer to her question.

"it's unclear whether she will or not. Her vitals are normal, her organs functioning properly yet she's breathing on her own. Its astounding really, her body is saint but she's so submerged into her comatose state that I fear the damage is beyond repair" Cheyenne explained, she pitied Alex, and more so Asha.

"you've not fed nor rested in weeks Cheyenne, go to Elia. He must surely miss you" Ishtar instructed as she took a eat near the bed where Alex lay inert.

"but Asha asked me to watch over the girl" Lavoie countered out pf loyalty to the redheaded vampire but Ishtar would have none of it.

"and I am relieving you of your assigned task. Now go rest" the raven haired woman added sternly. Ishtar being an elder and Asha's creator, she had the higher rank of authority, so Cheyenne had no other choice but to nod and take her leave.

Ishtar looked at the sleeping woman with wondering eyes. Inching closer, she brushed away stray strands of golden hair. It pained her to see Asha so distressed and if helping this human would end her misery then Ishtar would gladly do so.

As Ishtar looked down upon the fair haired human, Alex's features seemed almost angelic though riddled with a macabre expression.

The elder ran a sharp nail against her own skin and made a very noticeable cut in the palm of her had. The blood trickled down her hand, the immortal essence of her dripping into Alexandra's parted lips.

The cut healed instantly and Ishtar stood straight, leaving the room and closing the door after her.
