"Anyone who stops learning is old whether at 20 or 80. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young."
Ashley's POV
A frown involuntarily makes its way onto my face at the abrupt end of our conversation on phone.
I mentally shrug and get into bed.
"Goodnight!" I text before putting away my phone. Slowly, I succumb to sleep.
"Would you want to come with me to a place today?" I wake up to this text from Grayson. I don't reply immediately. I decided to take my bath first and get some food into my tummy before any other thing. After taking a shower, I head downstairs. I smell a nice aroma coming from the kitchen so I walk into the kitchen only to find mom making some pancakes.
My mom?!!! Oh my Gosh! She's back. They're back.
"Mom!!" I scream and she turns to face me, a smile on her face, eyes glowing.
"My baby girl!" She let go of whatever she was doing and came to hug me. "I've missed you so much."
I hug back tightly, "Missed you too."
She pulls away and looks at me, "How have you been?"
I grin, "I've been doing pretty well."
She pinches my cheeks, "I'm glad my baby is doing great. And where's my baby boy?"
"Mom!" I whine, "I thought I was your only baby."
"Of course! You are." She chuckles, "Where's Dylan?"
"I don't know! Probably in his room. I'll go get him."
"Sure!" I say and take a step.
"And Lucas too." She adds.
I take another step but halt, "Where's Dad?" I turn to her.
"Go get your brother and Lucas, you'll come back to find your daddy."
"Okay?!!" I say uncertain.

It's late in the afternoon and we're all gathered in the living room, having a chat. Everything was going so well, so so well, until Dylan started bringing up my past experiences as a child. So here I am. My parents and Dylan are making fun of me, bringing past embarrassing moments of my childhood. Gosh! I feel so pissed at all of them. I repeat, all of them. Even Lucas. It's good that Cam isn't here to make it even worse than it already is. Lucas isn't saying much, just chipping in a smile here or there. He's quiet but I know him so well. Every embarrassing moment about me said now is safely tucked at the back of his head. He'll bring it out when necessary, I tell you.
The person I felt was betraying me more was my Dad. The man has a good memory. Jeez! I wonder how he gets to remember every single detail of such embarrassing moments. Why the embarrassing moments though? Why couldn't he just remember the good ones or something and not the embarrassing ones?
He was telling another embarrassing tale of me when I cut him off, "Dad!" I frown at him.
"Sorry princess. This is too funny not to be told." Ignoring me he continues. "And she..."
With a frown on my face, I get up and furiously stomp the stairs as I head for my room, slamming my door shut behind me when I enter.
I pick up my phone. "Sure!" I reply to Grayson's text.
In a matter of seconds, he replies, "Okay."
It takes about twenty when he texts again. "I'm outside."
My heart leaps and I text, "Outside? You mean at my house?"
"Yeah!" I see his reply and my eyes widen.
"I'll be down in five." I text before rushing to quickly change into something presentable. After changing, I head downstairs.
"Where are you going?" A voice I could depict as Mom asks.
I turn to face her, "Out." Everyone else was watching me skeptically as I said this.
"Out?!" Mom asks with a shocked expression, brows raised.
"Yes..." I start but Dylan cuts me off.
"She's got a boyfriend." He smirks.
"A boy what?!" My mom asks even louder this time.
"A boy..." He tries to say it again, in case she didn't hear it. I don't wait for him to end his statement before cutting him off.
"He's lying. I'm out." I say and with that I rush out before, shutting the door behind me. Once I'm out, I let out a long sigh.
I spot Grayson's vehicle in the driveway and I walk briskly towards it.
I open the car and sit in the front seat, "Hi." I mutter to Grayson who is already looking at me with a smile.
"Hey, how are you?"
"I'm good. Where are we going?"
His eyes glow as he says, "It's a surprise."
"Okay? I can't wait." I smile in return.

"Thanks, I had an amazing time," I say and he smiles.
Would you believe me if I told you he took me to an ice cream parlor? And we tasted so many different chocolate ice creams. I wonder who told him chocolate ice creams were my favorite kind. I was so happy when I found out he went out of his way to take me to a place I admire. And for knowing my favorite type of ice cream, I think he deserves an award.
"Maybe we can do it again, sometime?" He asks with hope-filled eyes that I couldn't say No to. Besides it's not like I don't admire spending time with him. I enjoy spending time in his presence. There's a sense of comfort and security I feel being around him. It's weird, isn't it?
To answer his long-awaited question, "Sure." I utter.
"So tomorrow?" He asks and I nod.
Third Person's POV
"Yeah. I'll get going." She motions towards her house and he smiles, disappointment behind the smile. He wanted to spend some time with her, still, but he knew he had to let her go back. It was late.
She tried to take off the seatbelt yet it felt stuck, she was struggling to get it off. He notices it and, "Let me help you." He says and she pulls back as she rests against the seat, tucking stray hair behind her ear. She leans back while he inclines himself and stretches his hand towards the seatbelt lock. With little effort, he manages to unlock it. As he pulls away, his face lands right in front of hers and they stare at each other. They could have each turned away but they just couldn't. They were mesmerized, lost in each other's eyes. Her heart thumps loudly in her chest at how close they are and so does his. She was about to bow her head low to her fiddling hands when her gaze landed on his plumb and pink lips. She snaps her gaze to see him looking at her lips too.
Abruptly he pulls away, a blush creeping on his cheeks.
She clears her throat as she blinks to calm her racing heart, "U-h-m bye!" She mutters before opening the car door and rushing out, shutting the door behind her.
Immediately she gets in front of her house and reaches for the door to open it, her phone pings with a text from Grayson.
"Had an amazing time with you. You made my day. Goodnight." It said. Reading it warmed her heart immediately. That's when she heard his car drive away.
A smile played on her lips the entire time she walked into the house. She places her hands on her chest as she thinks about him. His lips.
"Oh my goodness!" She exclaims, "I can't believe I'm thinking of his lips." She whispers lips almost as if someone would hear her.
Ashley's POV
"And where are you coming from? Who did you go out with?" My dad booms and I jump out of surprise.
"A f-friend." I stutter.
"A friend?" He raises his brows at me. "And he's a male, correct?"
I swear, this man's overprotective instinct is kicking in.
"U-m yeah!" I chuckle nervously.
"If I heard you correctly, you mean he's a guy."
"Yes! Yes!" I fake a yawn, "I'm off to sleep. I'm tired. Goodnight."
"Young lady, I'm not done talking."
"Dad, I'm sleepy, I need to rest. We can continue this conversation tomorrow. Please, pretty." I fake another long yawn and after a moment I hear him sigh.
"Fine, tomorrow, we're going to continue this conversation and don't you think you can escape this."
I gasp, placing my hand over my heart, "Never!"
"Goodnight bumblebee."
"Night!" I say and rush to my room before he changes his mind.
