150 Ch. 150 The Calvins’ Visit (part 1)

“Xia Xia, Harmonie will come here and stay at our house. She recently broke up with her fiancé, so I wanted to cheer her up.” Richard informed his wife about his sister’s arrival while enjoying breakfast together. However, he didn’t immediately tell her that the whole family was coming but one by one before throwing the main bomb.

“Okay.”

“You don’t mind?”

“How could I? Your sister is lovely, and I already think of her as my big sister. But how did they break up? They should get married this year, considering they have been engaged for so long.

“I wish I know. Moni keeps her mouth shut when someone asks her.”

“I’m surprised you can still keep quiet. If I were you, I would hunt down all the men who make my sister broken heart.”

Richard chuckled at his wife’s words. “Trust me. I would love to hunt him down. But Moni would hate me if I did, so I didn’t do it.”

“What a lucky person.”

Richard felt his heart warmed to hear that his wife was sincerely upset about the treatment of the man who had hurt his sister. He knew that Anxia could accept Harmonie’s presence the most among his family members. Harmonie was a cheerful person and got along with everyone quickly. In her own way, Harmonie broke through Anxia’s defenses and allowed his wife to become closer to Moni.

That’s why Richard informed Moni’s arrival in advance, knowing Anxia would not mind welcoming her.

“And also… my father and mother will accompany her here.”

Anxia stopped chewing her food when Richard threw the first bomb. Well, Anxia didn’t mind welcoming her mother-in-law, but… she still couldn’t feel at ease when she met her father-in-law in person.

Every time they went on vacation to Delft to visit them, Anxia couldn’t be herself and was always careful in front of Stanley Calvin.

In the end, Stanley never spoke to her again and avoided her. Stanley’s attitude of avoiding her made her gloomy because she was sure Stanley officially didn’t like her to be her daughter-in-law.

Hearing the news that her father-in-law was coming here froze Anxia’s brain. She wanted to refuse and didn’t want to face her husband’s father and become someone she wasn’t. But she couldn’t reject her husband’s family, considering Richard loved his family dearly.

“Xia Xia? Are you okay?”

“I think so.”

“Are you sure? You’re not happy my family would be here?”

“It’s not like that. They are your family, and I have no right to be unhappy about them coming here.”

Richard held Anxia’s hand while stroking it gently. “They are also your family, and never think you are a stranger in their eyes. Hmm?” Using his other hand, Richard fondly stroked Anxia’s head.

“Your father doesn’t like me.”

“Who said that? I thought you were the one who didn’t like him.”

“What? I don’t dislike your father. It’s just… don’t you feel that your father avoided me when we came to Delft on our last visit?”

“Well, he did keep his distance because he thought you were afraid of him.”

“I’m afraid of him? I’m not afraid of him.”

One of Richard’s eyebrows rose as if he didn’t believe his wife’s denial.

“I mean, a little. I did feel uncomfortable when I met him, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t like your father. I wish I could treat him like my own.”

“Then why did you always get tense when my father tries to strike up a conversation with you?”

“That’s because...” she was too nervous!

“Now I get it. It’s only a misunderstanding between the two of you. You assume my father didn’t accept you when he accepted you long ago when we visited them the first time from London. My father thought you didn’t like him, so he stopped approaching you.”

Anxia frowned as she listened to her husband’s explanation. Today her brain was slow to work, so she had difficulty digesting long sentences from her husband.

“Xia Xia, trust me. My father has completely accepted you and is eager to recognize his new member and treat you like his daughter. So, when our parents come here, you don’t have to act uptight and pretend to be someone else. You have to be yourself because my dad doesn’t like people around him pretending to be not who he is.”

“I can do it?”

“Of course.” Richard chuckled as he saw his wife’s black eyes well up with tears. “Why are you even crying?” Richard wiped the tears that had escaped at the edge of his wife’s eyes.

“I don’t know. I think I’m becoming a crybaby when I’m with you.”

“Aw… You know, I don’t mind seeing you crybaby at all. Come here.”

Anxia complied and allowed herself to be hugged tightly by her husband.

Lori was also not to be outdone and got out of her chair to wrap her arms around her mother’s waist, providing the same caring support as her father.

Anxia smiled happily and was satisfied with her new life. She wished time could stop and they could live like this forever. She hoped Master Yu would never come to demand something she no longer had and destroy her happy life with her family.

After breakfast, Richard got ready to go to the office. When the car driven by his driver stopped in front of his company’s office, Richard felt he had forgotten something important.

Ah, it must not be that important, Richard thought to himself. Because of that, he decided to ignore it and go about his day as usual.

Two days later, Richard, Anxia, and Lori went to the airport in a large car to pick up Richard’s family.

It was then Richard remembered what he had forgotten a few days ago. He had forgotten to tell Anxia about Raymond and Michele’s coming!!
