264 Ch. 264 Elliotâs Strange Behavior
Anxia walked into Elliotâs room and realized that someone else had entered this room apart from Elliot and Mei Yin. Her instincts told her the outsider had installed a bugging device in this room.
Every room in this mansion had been wired, so Anxia wouldnât be able to talk about her strategy with Mei Yin or with Elliot.
âElliot, come here,â Anxia called her son because she wanted to make sure that the child was not injured. She did feel confident that Mei Yin would take good care of her son. But she was certain that Song Lei had thousands of ways to get Mei Yin to leave Elliot alone.
Because of that, Anxia was worried that Song Lei had gone to see her son yesterday and threatened the boy to make Loraine Shu seem so confident that Elliot would not want to go with her.
âEli?â Anxia walked deeper into her sonâs bed. She breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the tiny figure lying there. The childâs position was sleeping on one side with his back to her, so Anxia had to go around the bed to see her sonâs face.
âGood morning, El. Are you still sleeping?â Anxia sat beside her sonâs body and stroked the cheek of the child, who seemed to be sleeping soundly.
Surprisingly, Anxia felt her sonâs cheek muscles tense up when she touched her. Was Elliot pretending to be asleep?
Anxia didnât ask and let the boy pretend he was still asleep as she continued to touch her sonâs cheek and climbed up to stroke the back of the boyâs head.
The longer Anxia stroked Elliotâs head, the more relaxed the boy seemed, and his breathing returned to normal. Anxia was very curious about what happened last night. But she knew some bugging devices were in this room, so Anxia couldnât directly ask to dismantle her sonâs play.
.....
Is there a place where one can talk without fearing that the enemy will overhear their conversation? Well, they are in the enemyâs lair, so any place they come to is definitely not safe.
Anxia couldnât get her son to speak another language because her mother had hired an interpreter who could speak more than five foreign languages. Neither could she communicate through writing because that would be equivalent to leaving traces. She could have burned the inscription if this room had a fireplace. But Elliotâs room and hers didnât have a fireplace, and Anxia had to take the writing out of the mansion to burn it outside. Her actions would raise suspicions if she secretly burned something outside or sneaked out.
Communicating through writing was very risky. It seemed⦠the only way to communicate was through sign language like Jamie did. Anxia decided to learn sign language after this.
âElliot, tomorrow is your sixth birthday. Do you have a wish? I will grant all your wishes no matter how difficult your request is.â
Elliot didnât answer and buried his face into his pillow. Anxia blinked a few times, seeing her sonâs strange behavior. Even though she wasnât looking at her sonâs expression, she could still hear a small sob that escaped the boyâs throat.
Is Elliot crying? Why? What happened?
Plus, why was Elliot wearing long sleeves and a scarf around his neck even though it wasnât cold right now because of the heating on?
Anxia couldnât help but have bad thoughts about last night. All her nerves were itching to move to demand an explanation from Mei Yin, but she couldnât bear to leave her son alone here.
Is it possible that Mei Yin betrayed her? Is it possible that Mei Yin acts as if she hates Loraine when she approaches her to catch her off guard?
Unable to contain her curiosity longer, Anxia decided to use that âtool.â
Anxia reached for something in the pocket of her motorcycle vest. After finding what she was looking for, Anxia pressed the button, and immediately the people who put in earphones to hear through the bugging device in Elliotâs room had to remove their earphones by force.
For some reason, powerful frequency waves interfere with the signal of their bugging devices, so the sound they heard was so painful that it injured their eardrums.
The device that Anxia brought was a signal destroyer of various kinds of eavesdropping devices or communication devices that use sound wave frequencies.
This way, Anxia no longer had to worry about talking to Elliot. But Anxia didnât want to risk having outsiders walk into Elliotâs room and overhear their conversation. Anxia got up to lock the room and shut the window tightly, and then returned to her sonâs bed.
âElliot, I turned off the bugs in this room. We donât need to be afraid that someone will listen to us. So tell me what happened last night.â
Elliot shook his head without lifting his head from his pillow. The child feels more protected by covering his entire face and prefers not to look at his mother.
Realizing that her son didnât want to see her made Anxia heartache. If she had known that her son would act strangely like this, Anxia would not have left the boy here alone.
âEli, please speak to me. Iâll never know your thoughts if you donât tell me.â Anxia also lay beside Elliot as she hugged his tiny body and kissed the top of the little boyâs head. âIâm sorry to see you like this.â
Elliotâs tiny hands gripped the pillow sheet tightly, and only then did he turn to his mother with red eyes filled with tears.
Anxia felt her tears gather at the corners of her eyes when she saw her sonâs tears. When she saw Elliotâs tears, Anxia also wanted to cry with him as if she could feel her sonâs tiny shouldersâ fear and suffering.
Anxia brought Elliotâs body closer to her so she could hug him tightly, but a groan-like pain stopped her movement.
âWhat is it? Are you hurt?â
Elliot moved backward as if avoiding Anxiaâs touch, but the mother didnât accept her sonâs rejection. With gentle yet firm movements, Anxia sat Elliot on her lap and untied the scarf wrapped around her sonâs neck, only to see the most unexpected and shocking mark.
Her eyes widened when she saw a purplish mark resembling a human finger adorning her sonâs neck.
WHO DARED STRANGLE HER SON!?
