54 Ch. 54 Richard Is Enraged
Richard assumed as long as Anxia didnât get in touch with her co-workers, he could enter the womanâs stone-like heart. But now... he doubted he could do it.
What his father said was true. Bringing a trained assistant into the family was a reckless and dangerous act.
âWhat do you want? Let me go!â
Richard closed his eyes to calm his emotions without letting go of his grip on Anxiaâs hand.
âQiao Anxia,â
Hearing the way the man called her name in a cold voice sent chills down Anxiaâs spine. She didnât know what made him angry, but she knew well that she would be at a huge disadvantage if he got mad at her.
âI will make you pay for this.â
Ha? What? What had she done? Thought Anxia with confusion filled her eyes. Yet, Richard released his grip and headed out of the room without even giving Anxia a chance to respond.
Anxia rubbed her wrist, which now had red marks wrapped around it like a bracelet.
.....
In fact, she had been feeling a little pain since Richard gripped her roughly like this. No. The pain she felt was not in her wrist but around her chest.
She remembered that no matter how much Richard belittled or was mad at her, he had never been rude to her. The manâs attitude was indeed annoying and extraordinarily absurd. But never once did Richard cause injuries to her body.
Seeing the red marks on her wrists made Anxiaâs chest feel like a knife was stabbing it. And she didnât know why.
Anxia wondered what had made the man angry. Wasnât that guy fine before? Anxia really couldnât find the answer.
That night, Meisya invited all the house residents to have dinner together.
As usual, Lori was cheerful and always smiling widely, making the mood of those around her happy too. But Anxia couldnât shake her uneasy feeling and would occasionally glance at her husband.
She was even more disappointed when she realized he wasnât glancing at or teasing her like he had this morning.
Wouldnât that man still act like a good husband if someone else was around? Let alone acting like a good husband, the man didnât even glance at her as if she didnât exist.
In the end, Anxia turned her attention to her food but had no interest in feasting on her meal. She just played with the spoon on her plate without attracting attention.
She talked to Lori as usual, but not as much as she wanted to.
Currently, their sitting position was Stanley at the end of the table while Meisya was on her grandfatherâs right and Richard was on her left. Harmonie sat next to Meisya, and automatically Anxia sat next to Richard.
Aside from someone interacting with Anxia, the woman stayed quiet as if she pretended she wasnât in the middle of the family.
Meisya was the first to notice the uncomfortable atmosphere of the husband and wife sitting across from her. Because she didnât want her disobedient child to ruin the warm dinner atmosphere, Meisya opened her voice.
âWhy do you look so tense? Did you guys fight?â
Anxia felt her back break out in cold sweat as soon as she heard her mother-in-lawâs straightforward question. She didnât know how to answer that question.
âMommy and daddy are fighting?â because no one answered her omaâs question, Lori finally repeated her grandmaâs question while looking at her parents.
âWhy would we? Isnât that right, Qiao Anxia?â
Anxia glanced at her husband, who called out her full name instead of âXia Xiaâ and didnât know why she felt that uncomfortable pang in her chest again.
She never expected that she would be more restful if the man called her âXia Xiaâ instead of her full name.
âIf you say so, then itâs true. I donât want to fight with you.â
An interested glint appeared in his pair of brown eyes, hearing her answer. Now his wife is starting to be good at spurting words that are pleasant to hear.
Unfortunately, Richard only thought his wife was only acting and didnât take her seriously at all, without knowing that was the most sincere wish that came from Anxiaâs heart.
Anxia genuinely didnât want to make Richard angrier than before, even though she didnât know why... she just didnât wish to let the manâs anger fume further.
âThere. As you know, we didnât fight.â Richardâs word was aimed more at his daughter than his wife, and it was as if the man wanted to ensure his baby girl did not worry about his and Anxiaâs relationship.
Richard stabbed the meat with his fork and thrust it into his wifeâs mouth to prove his remark.
Richard deliberately chose the largest piece of meat he could find so that Anxia would have difficulty devouring it. He expected Anxia to refuse his feed as it would be too big for her tiny cheery-like lips.
Meanwhile, Anxia was in a dilemma with what she was currently experiencing. She wasnât sure if her mouth could open wide to devour the manâs thrusting meat.
Why did that guy choose big meat, anyway? There were still many small and thin pieces of meat around, but why did this man choose the biggest one??
Anxia had no right to complain, and she didnât want to pour oil on the flame as she could still feel from the look in his eyes.
Anxia opened her mouth wide and devoured in one go. She even had to use her own fork to push the end of the meat that still couldnât get into her mouth.
With great difficulty, Anxia chewed the contents of her mouth until her jaw ached. Not wanting to make herself ridiculous in front of her husbandâs family, Anxia excused herself to the bathroom so she could chew its contents freely.
However, Richard misunderstood her. Richard was startled at first as he wasnât expecting Anxia to eat it in one bite, but he smirked, seeing Anxia leave in a hurry.
It looks like the woman will vomit the meat in the toilet. He thought sarcastically.
