93 Ch. 93 Anxiaâs Thoughts
While Lori happily chased the butterflies, Richard and Anxia sat on the grass, watching their daughterâs endless cheerfulness.
âDo you still want to get off this island??â
âI donât mind staying in this place for a while. But you do realize you canât lock us up on this island, right? Sooner or later, Lori has to go to school, and sheâll be four soon. I donât want her to be introverted with no knowledge about making friends.â
Richard smiled, knowing his wife had the same thought as him.
âI know. We will be leaving this place soon.â
âWe will?ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
âOn second thought, I changed my mind. I donât want to risk you trying to run away from me when we get back.â
Anxia pursed her lips, hearing that. âI wonât. Iâm not going anywhere without Lori.â Richard would never let Lori go, which means the three would be together.
âEven though you got news regarding your motherâs location?â
.....
â...â
Richard could see a gleam of doubt in his wifeâs eyes. He immediately knew Richard would leave to save her mother without saying goodbye.
Richard was disappointed and could no longer bear the unsmiling expression on his wife. He looked at his daughter, who was still playing with the butterflies flying around her.
âI will leave, but Iâll let you know first.â that was the answer Anxia gave after a moment of silence.
Anxiaâs answer was completely unexpected but caught his attention so much that Richard turned his head back to look at his wife.
âI already said I would try to rely on you. So, before I go, I will tell you about my mother. If you manage to convince me that your acquaintances can help my mother like they saved my friend, I might not leave.â
Richard raised a hand to caress her cheek affectionately, and his thumb slid across his wifeâs lips, making Anxiaâs heart drum wildly again.
âI admit, your words convinced me, my heart not sure to believe you.â
Richard thought Anxia would brush his hand away and spit out sarcasm. But Anxia surprised him by resting her own hand on the back of Richardâs hand against her cheek.
âYouâre right, but I donât have any proof to make you believe me.â
Richard shifted his hand around Anxiaâs shoulder to pull her closer to him.
Unexpectedly, Anxia let him do it, and now her head rested on his shoulder as if it was the most comfortable place to rest her head. Richard couldnât help but wonder if Anxia was acting to catch him off guard.
Even though his logic told him that Anxia had planned something hidden against him, Richard decided to listen to his heart.
Right now, his heart was saying to enjoy this moment and not think about the wicked things his wife would do. Luckily Richard preferred to listen to his heart because Anxia wasnât planning anything evil against him at this time.
Anxia tried to follow all the suggestions given by Calydta.
âMadam, sometimes you donât have to do anything to please Mr. Richard. You just being by his side has made him happy. Iâve never seen him laugh as he did when youâre with him. Itâs as if he no longer needed this world as long as he has you.â
âHow can you be sure?â
Calydta smiled gently as she reached into her work clothes pocket to retrieve her phone.
âLet me show you something.â
Anxia looked one by one at the photos plastered there. The images were taken yesterday while they were playing on the beach, and they mostly contain her and Richard playing in the water.
But what surprised Anxia when she saw Richardâs wholesome laughter when he hugged her from behind and spun around.
It was the first time she had seen Richard could laugh like this. Richardâs laughter was like a sunrise in the morning that warmed her heart. The manâs eyes shone like a beautiful galaxy showing off its stars when he laughed.
Not only that, Anxia realized that she could also give unrestrained laughter like the one shown in the photo.
When was the last time she laughed like this?
âJust as you feel happy with the master, he also feels the same.â the older womanâs sudden remark stunned Anxia.
Was she happy when she was with Richard? Is that how he feels?
Come to think of it, Anxia was no longer against Richard whenever he touched her subtly.
She expressed her dislike, but she felt a strange tingling sensation that she had never felt before
Why? What is this feeling?
Anxia didnât know and didnât want to think about complicated things. Therefore she chose to live it. Consequently, she gave no rejection when Richard circled her shoulder and let her head rest on his shoulder.
As she expected, she felt something that made her heart feel comfortable when she felt her husbandâs warmth and smelled his distinctive masculine cologne.
Is this love? Is she starting to love Richard?
But what is love? What is it like to love a man?
For most of her life, her brain was filled with hatred and plans for revenge. She had never liked a man or was interested in having sex with any young man.
Every time she went on a mission to entice her target, Anxia always felt disgusted and wanted to vomit whenever her targetâs hands roamed her body. She viewed all men as her enemies and decided not to become a slave to the lusts of men.
Four years ago, she was willing to throw away her pride and sacrifice her innocence to make Michelle Wongâs life suffer. It failed miserably, and now she was stuck with Richard.
But who would have thought she would get the most precious baby girl as a present and a man willing to do everything for her as long as she put her faith in him?
Anxia wasnât a weak girl, but strangely she found herself as a defenseless, vulnerable, and fragile woman inside Richardâs arms. Yet, it was soothing and relaxing.
What if she becomes useless if she lets this keep continue? Would she allow that?
