Matthew was puzzled. "Who told you to shut me out?"
That was unbelievable. He was in an intimate relationship with Rachel, yet people were still stirring up troubles. It just didn't make sense.
Zachary sighed. "I'm fine telling you who it is, but this can be serious. If things go south, I might lose my job. So, keep this to yourself."
Matthew was getting anxious. "Who gave you the order? Hurry up and tell me."
With a worried look, Zachary knitted his brows together. "It was Mr. and Mrs. Carter. They came to me about it. Ms. Lauder is just a secretary, so I can take the heat and let you in. But when it comes to Ms. Rachel's parents, even she has to listen to them, let alone me."
So, it was Martin and Yvonne, huh?
Upon hearing those names, Matthew sported a solemn look. Just thinking about why they showed up here made him frustrated. If it were someone else, it'd be simple to deal with. But they were Rachel's parents.
Noticing the grim look on Matthew's face, Zachary continued, "I was promoted to the head of security position thanks to your recommendation, Matt. I'm not trying to get in your way, but I'm just letting you know about this. Anyway, now's your chance. Get inside before anyone sees you."
Matthew nodded. "Thanks a lot."
Zachary responded with a smile, "What are you saying, Matt? We're bros, so no need to be so formal."
Matthew then waved his hand and entered the building.
Looking at Matthew's back, Zachary remarked, "Living off others isn't as easy as it seems."
Walking out of the elevator, Matthew headed toward the president's office. He'd barely taken any steps when he ran into Tracy coming his way.
He was at a loss whether to talk to her. After their conversation in the car, things felt pretty complicated between them.
Tracy was surprised to see Matthew. "How did you get in? I told the security guards to keep you out."
Matthew replied in annoyance, "One of the guards wouldn't let me in, so I beat him up and walked right in. Are you going to stop me too?"
This rascal! Tracy's cheeks flushed with anger. "How dare you? Are you going to take me down if I get in your way?"
Matthew nonchalantly responded, "Try me."
Tracy coldly grunted before asking, "What brings you here?"
Matthew was upfront about it. "I'm here to talk to Rachel about you."
Tracy's demeanor slightly changed. "Y-you can't tell her."
Realizing Tracy was nervous, Matthew deliberately raised his voice."I'm definitely going to tell her."
Tracy gritted her teeth. "If you tell Rachel about me, I'll say you assaulted me in the car."
She was close to Rachel, but it was strictly a friendship. They hadn't crossed the line yet.
Tracy didn't want Matthew to spill the beans. She planned to find the right moment to bring it up with Rachel herself.
How could she? Furious, Matthew glared at Tracy. She was really something to say such a thing.
"So, you're going to slander me, huh? Fine then. Since you're doing that, don't blame me for not playing nice anymore. I'm just going to make it happen."
As Matthew spoke, he rolled up his sleeves and walked up to Tracy. It looked like he was ready to force himself on her.
