Matthew continued, "Things like fixing broken bones and acupuncture? They don't charge for that, and they only make money from the medicines. That's what good- hearted doctors do.
"But after finishing college and coming back, barely any clinics practicing traditional medicine were still around. It felt like they were just snuffed out too soon. I was clueless back then, but now I see the big conspiracy behind it all."
Looking disheartened, Ansel added, "The truth behind this is much darker than you think."
Matthew picked up on something. "You know the truth?"
Ansel shook his head. "I don't know the whole story, but I can tell a lot of people and forces are involved. It takes more than a few cracks in the foundation to bring down something this big."
Matthew nodded in agreement. "You're right. Let's put that aside for now. Among Eight Medical Sects, we're still missing the medical literature from Presetian Sect and Harmona Sect. Give me the details of Harmona Sect's successor first."
Ansel leaned closer. "I'll send you the info to your phone shortly. We're down to the last two sects. If you want to meet your mentor, you'd better hurry."
Matthew had a lot on his mind and wanted to talk to Nicholas, but he wasn't in a rush just yet. "The situation with the Fuller family affects my family. I have to take care of the problem before carrying on with the mission."
Ansel uncrossed his arms. "What's your plan?"
Matthew thought for a moment before replying, "During my time in prison, I learned something. The weak bow to the strong, the strong fear the reckless, and the reckless don't mess with people with nothing to lose.
"The Fuller family think they can do whatever they want just because they're loaded. I'm ready to go wild for once."
When Matthew spoke his last line, his words were filled with murderous intent. His voice was so cold that it felt like the room temperature had dropped.
Ansel raised an eyebrow before backing away. He was jolted by Matthew's intense presence. "Y-you've exuded a much deadlier vibe than your mentor when he was young.
"You made the right call. You've got to be tough to stay on top. How are you planning to go wild this time?"
Matthew coldly remarked, "It'll bring carnage!"
In Mistvale City, there was an estate with a garden spread over roughly ten acres. The place had an elegant touch-babbling streams, arched bridges, rock formations, pavilions, and exotic plants everywhere.
The architecture had a vintage feel. Inside a south-face building, people were in a heated argument.
"Dad was the head of the Fuller family, and he died for us. It's my responsibility as his son to lead the family forward."
"The Fuller family got to where it is today because of strong leadership. Uncle Vernon was capable, but that doesn't you've got what it takes just because you're his son."
"I'm still kicking, so it's not up to you younger ones to decide. My brother may be gone, but I, Lyndon Fuller, am still around as the second son."
"The younger generations aren't part of the picture, but I have to step up as well, Lyndon. I'm younger and more capable than you..."
Just then, all eyes turned to the doorway, where an old man with a cane slowly walked in.
Everyone immediately stopped quarreling. Lyndon Fuller and Clement Fuller stepped forward to help. The old man's name was Leopold Fuller, the father of Vernon, Lyndon, and Clement.
As the oldest member of the Fuller family, Leopold was also the previous head of the family 20 years ago.
As Leopold walked inside the room, he looked around at everyone and calmly said, "Your enemy is still alive, but you all are already falling apart and fighting each other. Have you lost your mind?"
Everyone in the room fell silent and looked down at their feet, avoiding eye contact with Leopold.
He added, "If you want to lead the Fuller family, step forward."
They exchanged glances, looking at one another for a few minutes. Anson Fuller came forward and declared, "I'm ready to lead."
As he spoke, he looked around at everyone with a confident gaze.
Clement walked forward. "My older brother isn't here anymore, Dad. I have to step up."
Shortly after, five people had moved out from the group.
Leopold looked quite pleased and tapped his cane, saying, "It doesn't matter if you're after the power of being the head of the family or genuinely want to lead the Fuller family to greatness. Standing up means you're ready to take charge.
"But taking charge isn't enough to lead the family. The head of the Fuller family has to value money, know how to make it, and know how to spend it wisely. You're going to use it to protect the family's interests and keep the family thriving.
"Each person, who steps forward, gets 50 million dollars to work with. Whoever eliminates Matthew and his entire family will become the next head of the Fuller family."
