I bowed respectfully as I stood before my father and the king. “Good evening, I apologise for being late to welcome you king Alpha” I said politely and tried not to look him in the eye, but I knew that he was locking his gaze on me.

Why?

Why is he like that?

“Ehem…” My father cleared his throat and made me turn my gaze towards him “King Alpha said something surprising, Gwen” His words made me raise my eyebrows in wonder.

“Let me finish, Alpha” the king interrupted and made me turn towards him “Gwen, it seems you are my fated mate” he said loudly and made the whole room surprised by his statement.

What did he say?!

“What?” I whispered in shock and speechlessness.

How dare he!!!

Why would he say something like that now?!

He nodded as if I was st**id “Maybe it’s because you don’t have a wolf, so you don’t recognise me, but my wolf is currently screaming to claim you now… Gwen Louve, you are my fated mate”

I turned around to see my father whose face looked pale but there was a hint of admiration as well as my brother who also seemed unable to believe that his newly arrived, wolfless sister was the Alpha king’s fated mate.

What does this mean?

Does he think I’m some kind of toy that he can use whenever he wants?

Maybe he thinks because I don’t have a wolf that he can play with my feelings?!

My emotions were running high, I wanted to hit and even kill the man in front of me, if only I didn’t think twice or three times and remember that I could be immediately imprisoned or maybe die on the spot for injuring the king.

I turned to my father “Can I have a one-on-one talk with the king, father? I’m a little confused at the moment” I said softly and my father smiled but hurriedly showed me his office on the side.

Maybe everyone thinks I’m confused because I don’t have a wolf so I don’t recognise my fated mate and knowing that having a mate who was an Alpha king was a huge surprise.

If only they knew what I did to forget about my mate for the past 5 years….

Everything I had done to be able to forget that I had a mate who didn’t want me, that I reminded myself that I wasn’t some lame woman that no man wanted.

Everyone made way for me and I said nothing but walked away from the king, knowing that he would surely follow me.

I knew my father’s study was soundproof, because right now I really wanted to scream out loud because of my emotions.

The sound of his heavy steps confirmed that he was behind me, luckily, he knew what’s good for himself and said nothing. I opened the door to my father’s study and went straight to the cabinet to get a glass of liquor, whiskey looks good, I said to myself and took a quick sip.

I poured the second glass of the whiskey and drank it back before looking at the man.

He remained silent and continued to stare at me.

“D*MN IT, STOP LOOKING AT ME!!!” I couldn’t stand it and shouted loudly, not caring about the consequences of what would happen to me.

He exhaled and closed his eyes as if holding his patience, when he opened his eyes to look at me, his gaze changed and made me flinch slightly in shock.

“I’ll give you one week before my men take you to my castle” he state firmly and I was surprised to hear it.

Does he realise what he’s saying?

How could he not care about my feelings at all?

He can reject me when he doesn’t want to and take me away when he wants to play?!

I boldly approached him and stood in front of him, not caring about the consequences I would receive for my impoliteness. Or maybe this was the effect of the liquor I drank and I knew that I would regret it when I’m sober, but I boldly looked at his eyes with a defiant look and said “F*CK YOU!!!” before I threw the glass on the floor and walked out of my father’s study.
