The day went by slow and finally it was lunch. I was walking to lunch when Caleb jogged up to me.
âIâm sorryâ he said. My eyebrows pulled together in confusion. âAbout what happened to youâ he added. I smiled and nodded my head, since I canât talk.
We arrived at the cafeteria and walked in. I saw my family and smiled. I donât have any friends besides them âcause no one wants to be friends with the mute girl. I turned back to Caleb when he grabbed my arm.
âI can help you,â he said. My eyebrows pulled together in confusion. âAbout being mute. My sister was the same thing. She got attacked by a rogue and he got her vocal cord. She couldnât talk at all. Later my family searched for a source and we found one. It takes a week to work and you will have to stay home because of the affects. So, what do you say? Meet me outside the school at the end of the day?â He asked. I searched his eyes to see if he was lying but I only saw the truth.
I thought it over. Do I want to go through all the pain just to get my voice back? Heck yeah! I smiled and nodded.
âOkay, great! So meet me outside after school and we can go,â he said. âGo tell your friends that you wonât be at school or at your house for a week,â he ordered. I nodded and walked to the table where my family is at.
When I got there, they were all staring at me. I smiled and sat down.
âIâm going to be gone for a weekâ I told them through our mind-link. They seemed to snap out of their trance and glare at me.
âWhy?! You canât just leave us here and go with a boy!â Liliana yelled at me. I scowled and turned to her, pissed.
âJust cause I was talking to a guy doesnât mean I will ditch you guys!â I yelled than stormed out of the cafeteria.
