Chapter 255
Chapter 255
Old Yves didnât even bother to respond to Franklin. Maggie didnât say anything in reply to his comment either.
Franklin didnât mind being ignored. When he saw that Maggieâs tea was about to run out, he picked up the purple clay teapot and poured more tea for both her and Old Yves.
Throughout lunch and tea, Maggie mostly spoke with Old Yves and Isabella.
It was unclear whether it was because she didnât want to speak to him or because Franklin didnât want to speak to
her.
By the time they were about to leave the Yves familyâs house around 2 p.m.,
Maggie suddenly realized that they had been in the same room for nearly four hours, yet neither of them had said a
word to each other.
Old Yves had naturally noticed the awkward silence as well. But Franklin didnât look back, and Maggie had already let go of her feelings for him.
She understood that the reason he had invited them here today was not to try to reunite them. With nothing to say to
each other, she had nothing more to add either.
Just as they were getting ready to leave, Isabella looked up at Maggie and asked, âMom, are you going home today?â
Before she could respond, Isabella added, âYou havenât been home for so long.â Hearing this, Old Yves paused for a moment, but didnât speak. He simply let out a quiet sigh.
Franklin also remained silent. Maggie gently stroked Isabellaâs small face and said, âMom still has work, so I wonât go home today.â
âOhâ¦â Isabellaâs face fell, and she asked, âThen are you going to Grandmaâs house or are you going on another business trip?
I couldnât reach you last weekend, so I went to Grandmaâs, but you werenât there. Grandma said you were on a business tripâ¦â
Maggie hadnât known that Isabella had gone to her familyâs house the previous weekend.
She had planned to go back to her parentsâ house to have dinner with Grandma and the family today.
Thinking about how Isabella had gone to her grandmotherâs house because she missed her and couldnât reach her on the phone, Maggie paused, then said, âIâm going to your grandmaâs later. Do you want to come with me?â
âYes!â Hearing that, Isabellaâs face lit up. She had thought that Maggle would be busy with work again.

Chapter 255
Maggie looked at Franklin, and he understood her unspoken words. He said to Isabella, âSo, does that mean youâll stay at your grandmaâs house tonight?â
âYes!â âAlright.â Franklin said with a smile. âThen tomorrow afternoon, Iâll send someone to pick you up from
school.â
âNo, I want to go back to Grandmaâs after school tomorrow.â
Franklin chuckled and glanced at Maggie. âThatâs something youâll have to discuss with your mom. I canât decide that for you.â
Isabella hugged Maggieâs leg and looked up at her. âMom, are you going to leave Grandmaâs house tomorrow?â
Maggie nodded. Isabellaâs expression dropped. ââ¦Okay.â
After discussing the details, they said goodbye to Old Yves, then left for their respective cars.
The next day, after dropping Isabella off at school, Maggie went back to work at Cole.
When she entered the company, she once again ran into Franklin and his secretary, Chad, in the elevator.
The three of them stood in the elevator, once again pretending to be strangers, not speaking a word.
Around 11 a.m. that same day, Franklin left Cole. Afterward, Johnny learned that Maggie had returned and came over to talk business with her.
After discussing the main topics, Maggie remembered that she had run into Franklin earlier in the company. She asked, âHas the cooperation with Wilson Corporation still not been finalized?â
âItâs been finalized, but there were some issues with the division of tasks in the cooperation. He came today to
discuss some additional clauses.â
