Chapter 278
The next morning. Franklin, Isabella, and Julia arrived early at the stadium where Isabellaâs competition would take place.
Not long after, Harry and Daisy arrived as well.
Upon seeing them, Isabella greeted with a smile, âUncle, Daisy, youâre here!â
Daisy came over and held Isabellaâs hand. âYour match is about to startâare you nervous, Isabella?â
Isabella, however, remained calm and composed. She shook her head. âNot at all.â
Harry had other business to attend toâhe was only here to drop Daisy off.
Knowing he was in a hurry, Franklin said, âIâll look after Daisy. Go take care of your work.â
Harry nodded. âAlright, Iâll come back around noon and have lunch with you guys.â
âSounds good.â
The bond between the two still seemed as strong as ever.
Butâ¦
Julia listened to their conversation, her gaze flitting between Franklin and Harry.
If Franklin were to find out that Harry had fallen for Maggie, would their friendship still be the same?
Noticing her gaze, Harry gave her a slight nod without saying a word, then turned and left.
Watching him come and go without once speaking to her, Julia let out a faintly mocking smile.
Ever since he had fallen for Maggie, Harry had grown colder and colder toward her.
Meanwhile, back at home resting, Maggie received a call from Johnny.
âMy parents and I are going out for lunch today. Itâs been a while since they last saw you, and theyâve mentioned you a few times recently. They really want to see youâdo you want to join us?â
It had indeed been quite a while since Maggie had seen Mr. and Mrs. Gray. Hearing this, she agreed.
Close to noon, she got in her car and headed out.
By the time she arrived at the restaurant, Johnny and his parents had just gotten there as well.

Seeing her, Mrs. Gray held her hand warmly. âItâs been so long, our Maggie is still as beautiful as ever.â
As Maggie and Mrs. Gray chatted, Levi stepped out of a car nearby. When he saw Maggie, Johnny, and Mr. and Mrs. Gray together, he froze for a moment.
Maggie noticed him too, and the smile on her face faded slightly before she calmly looked away.
Levi was clearly surprised, but he quickly regained composure and greeted the couple politely, âMr. Gray, Mrs.
Gray.â
They nodded in response.
Levi glanced around at the four of them, then turned and walked into the restaurant ahead.
Once he was a bit farther away, he pulled out his phone and called Franklin.
Franklin picked up quickly. âWhatâs up?â
âGuess who I just saw?â
Franklin didnât take the bait. âWho did you see?â
ââ¦Seriously?â Levi could already tell from Franklinâs tone that he had a good idea.
âYouâre rightâit was Maggie. But hereâs the kickerâshe was with Johnny and his parents. Dude, it totally looked like she was meeting the parents! Mrs. Gray even held her hand and looked super affectionate, like Maggie was already her daughterâinâlaw. I swear, they might really be close to tying the knot!â
Franklin replied calmly, âOh? Is that so?â
â⦠Really? Thatâs all youâve got to say?â Given Franklinâs past indifference toward Maggie, his reaction wasnât exactly surprising.
Seeing that gossiping with Franklin wasnât going anywhere, Levi switched topics. âHas Isabellaâs match finished? What were the results?â
âIt finished this morning. She did well.â
âAlright thenâ¦â Levi, still bubbling with gossip, couldnât help himself. He shared the whole thing with Julia and Harry in their group chat.
At that moment, Franklin, Julia, and the others had just arrived at the restaurant and were getting ready to eat. Harry had wrapped up his work and joined them.
Seeing Leviâs @ in the group chat, both Julia and Harry checked their messages.
Upon reading that Maggie had been spotted with Johnny and his parents, Julia thought it must be the result of what

she had told Mrs. Gray the day before.
She curled her lips slightly in a subtle smirk.
Johnnyâs parents meeting with Maggieâmaybe they were trying to put her in her place?
But just as she had that thought, Levi sent two more messages.
âJust now, Mrs. Gray was holding Maggieâs hand, calling her âMaggieâ with such warmth. It seriously looked like she adored herâas if Maggie were her own daughter. Iâm telling you, this looks like itâs really happening!â
âRemember during Grandma Wilsonâs birthday, Mrs. Gray said that as long as Johnny and Maggie were ready, she could arrange the wedding anytime? Back then, I thought she was just being polite, But now? Damn, she meant it!â
Reading that, Julia froze.
And then, her expression changed dramatically.
