A Lycanâs Command SKYLA.
âAre you two coming with me?â I ask the moment I hear the sound of heels behind me.
Delsanra is standing there, arms crossed, as she watches me.
âWell, we have to. No one is to move around alone,â Azura says, and I glance over my shoulder at her.
2 âExactly,â Delsanra says with a grin as they both fall into step beside me.
The main thing Leo and Dad made clear is that everyone tries to make sure that Aleric remains in the main hall.
The last I saw of him as I snuck out was Dad walking over to him and Kenneth.
If he tries something, weâll be alerted, but I donât know, Iâm feeling uneasy, and I shouldnât be⦠not with the fact that Iâm going to go meet Royce. From here on out, weâll be together.
âThe blood moonâ¦â Azura whispers as she stares out of the window.
I glance out of it, staring at the moon that now holds a red hue, one that no human eye can really see.
Itâs radiant, its energy simmering through me, and beside me, I can feel Azuraâs aura rising.
âIâm so damn uneasy,â I mutter, my eyes flashing as I feel on edge. 1 A faint hiss reaches my ears and my eyes flash.
âThereâs something out there. I can hear it, I whisper.
Delsanra glances at me, whispering a spell as she instantly raises a barrier around us.
Her eyes are red, and she looks fine as fuck, which is a clear indication that sheâs shifted to her demon form.
âI can too.â Azura murmurs as she spins around, raising her hands, her eyes blazing silver.
She pauses as she glances over her shoulder and turns. We all move, falling in back-to- back as we scan the area around us.
âThereâs a powerful dark energy approachingâ¦â Delsanra says, and I glance back at her, but sheâs scanning the area.
Azura raises her hand as we try to pinpoint what direction it will come from. 1 My eyes blaze as I hone my senses, trying to pick up any sound I can.
âThe left!â I say, making both women turn and Delsanra begins whispering a spell.
âLetâs move faster, move!â she says, leading the way down the steps to the right.
Delsanra brings up the rear, raising a shimmering barrier of magic around us.
I hear her earpiece crackle.
âHeâs gone. Get to Royce immediately. Iâm coming.â Rayhanâs voice comes.
âFuck, Alericâs gone from the hall!â Azura curses at the same time as she bends down and breaks the bottom chains of her dress to make it easier to run. 3 âKenneth left first in a hurry and then Aleric followed, but he just disappeared! Liam and Leo lost him!â She continues.
Fuck.
Is he going after Royce? 1 âI need to get to Royce!â
The chilling sense of foreboding inside of me rises and I break into a run, leading the way down the steps and taking the left, running down the dark hallwayâ¦
âHow is that even possible? There are barriers around the hall.â Delsanra says sharply through the earpiece.
âI donât-â Rayhanâs voice is cut off and the earpiece crackles and she rips it from her ear, flinching.
âYou, ok?â Azura asks. Delsanra nods. â Good, Leo said he just disappeared. One minute Alejandro and Liam were talking to them, the next a server falls, they turn and Alericâs gone!â1 âHe probably disappeared like the fucking serpents,â I murmur. Iâm ready for whatever shit is thrown our way.
âAnd the barriers, so they practically donât work? Meaning he can just port into anyoneâs fucking home?â Azura asks, as we run down the next flight of stairs I know we had to keep Royce fucking far, but now Iâm regretting how far it is.
âI donât think the barriers mean anything to him,â I say, hearing the sinister whisper of darkness approaching.
I look over my shoulder, seeing the darkness engulfing the end of the hall.
âYou must avoid him until the moon has passed.â 2 I freeze when the same whispery voice fills my mind.
Bastetâ¦
âNow you return?â I ask, a little annoyed. What is going on? How do I defeat him!?â
âAvoid-â
The voice suddenly stops, and I glance around, itâs almost as if something is blocking her.
Fuck!
The temperature rises and I frown, feeling the heat getting stronger.
âBastet!â 1 I can sense something, but it feels too far, struggling to cross through the darkness that is growing thicker.
âWhat happened?â Delsanra asks sharply as she throws a ball of red fire at the darkness.
âFuck, it was Bastet, I think! She said I need to avoid him at all costs.â I say, pushing Delsanra out of the way when a tendril of darkness tries to wrap around her.
âLetâs get to Royce then!â Azura says quietly, sending a powerful wave of power toward the dark shadows that seem to be an entity of their own.
It blanches, but it is doing nothing to slow it down.
âRoyce.â I call through the link.
Nothing.
âRoyce!â
âIs your mind link working?â I ask Azura as we run down the hall, my stomach twisting.
âNo. Fuck!â she says after a moment, brushing the strands of her hair that have come loose, out of her face.
I can see the heat waves surround us as it keeps getting hotter, the soles of my heels becoming painfully hot.
My heart thuds as Azuraâs aura blazes around her.
âKeep moving. The quicker we get to Royce, the better our chance-â Azuraâs cut off when a powerful dark energy rushes around Delsanra chants a spell.
âYou girls, go!â she commands.
I see the dark shadows of black and purple hue smash into her shield, trying to overpower them.
Theyâre strong, and itâs eating away at her barrier.
She whispers something, reinstating her shield, making the darkness back away.
âDark magic can indeed fight dark magic!â Delsanra murmurs. âGo to Royce!â
The power of Delsanraâs shield illuminates the dark hall and I see the dark purple-black smoke that is seeping around the ground and lurking in the corners of the hall begin to grow once more.
She wonât be able to hold it for long.
Azura and I both hesitate.
âNo. I canât leave you.â I say, and Azura nods.
Heâll kill her.
I hear the hiss of rage from the corners of the room, feeling the darkness rush at me.
Itâs after meâ¦
âIâll be fine, run!â Delsanra commands.
âSorry, but thatâs now how it works.â Azura says firmly. âCome on! Keep backing up, but donât stop!â
Burning pain begins to singe my back and I spin around.
What the fuckâ¦
Flames begin to lick the edges of the walls. and itâs getting harder to breathe.
Our hearts thump, knowing that weâre alone in the middle of a hall.
I donât think weâre on the right path⦠I think we should have taken the last rightâ¦
I can sense him. Heâs close.
âAleric,â I growl. âI know youâre here!â
Avoid him until the moon is goneâ¦
âGuys go!â Delsanra shouts You donât leave anyone behind.,. even if- âI SAID GO!â Delsanra shouts as she sends another wave of her power at the shadows.
âAzura, stay with her! If you canât defeat it, protect yourselves!â I command suddenly.
Azura freezes, and I realise I used my Alpha command on her⦠thereâs shock and a glimmer of hurt in her eyes.
âSky⦠you canât do this.â She mutters.
A Lycanâs commandâ¦
Iâm sorry Zuâ¦
âYou will not follow me.â
