Chapter 1041
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
Why is Aiden with you? Where are you now?â Amelia exclaimed in shock.
âI was just showing Aiden something. Iâll send him back in a bit,â Warren replied.
Amelia was silent for a while and finally just said, âThen send Aiden back soon!â
After finishing the call, Warren glanced at his son, who looked a little annoyed and regretful. Obviously, he felt that he shouldnât have come here without permission, which made Amelia worried.
âIâm going back!â Aiden said.
âOkay,â Warren replied, showing no intention to stop him.
Amelia was already glancing about at the door by the time the car pulled up in front of her concession stand again. As soon as she saw the car coming, she immediately rushed forward and opened the door.
Worried that something bad had happened to Aiden, Amelia looked at him carefully after he got out of the car.
âHe didnât do anything to you, did he?â Amelia asked.
Aiden shook his head.
Amelia looked at Warren and said, âMr. York, I hope you will let me know the next time youâre taking my son somewhere.â
Warren smiled faintly as he replied, âOkay. Iâll call you in advance next time.â
Amelia felt speechless as she thought to herself, âDoesnât he mean that there would be another time?â
Even so, she couldnât say anything in retaliation. After all, Warren was Aidenâs father. According to the law, he still had the right of visitation even if the custody belonged to her.
Amelia held her sonâs hand and said, âAll right, Aiden. Letâs go back. Grandma has cooked dinner and is waiting for you.â
Aiden followed her obediently and was about to enter the concession stand when Warren suddenly said, âAiden, if you like what I showed you today and want to become stronger, then next time I come back to see you, I will give you a chance to learn everything you saw today.â
Aidenâs body stiffened.
There was a hint of confusion in Ameliaâs eyes.
Later that night, Amelia asked her son, âDid you leave with him today?â
Aiden nodded, but he immediately said, âI wonât do it again, Mommy.â
Amelia gently patted his head. âHe is your daddy, after all. Although he and I are no longer in a relationship, it doesnât mean that I will have you cut ties with him completely.â
âI donât want him to be my daddy! I have no daddy, only mommy!â Aiden exclaimed seriously. After all, the bad memory of his childhood was too much for him.
âNow, now⦠Donât say that. Werenât you willing to go out with him today?â Amelia said.
âThatâs because heâ¦â Aiden paused when he finished his words.
âBecause of what?â Amelia asked.
Beckham bit his lips and said, âBecause he told me to go with him if I want to be stronger.â
That was when Amelia thought of what Warren said before he left. âBecome stronger? What did he show you?â
Speaking of this, Aidenâs eyes lit up. âI just saw two people doing some combat drills. Itâs totally different from boxing.â
Unlike boxing, which had a lot of stances, it was more like a real fighting system. It helped one avoid the opponentâs attacks and retaliate with a great counter.
As for boxing, it seemed to be less practical in comparison.
âDo you really like the stuff you saw today? Do you not like boxing anymore?â Amelia asked.
âBecause that will allow me to protect you better, Mommy!â Aiden said in a childish voice.
Amelia felt a slight ache in her heart when she heard that. Her sonâs wisdom was the result of the hardships of life.
âI know that you always want to protect me, but you are still a child, so donât need to carry such a heavy burden. Now, I will protect you so that you can grow up well. When you are old enough in the future, you can protect me in return, okay?â
She thought to herself, âItâll be another ten years or more until my son grows up, though. Can I really protect him for so long? Can I withstand all the ups and downs of life out there? What about other peopleâs strange, discriminatory looks, and various kinds of ridicule?â
Amelia felt as though her heart was being pressed by something heavy, which made.it difficult for her to breathe.
The next day, Warren came to Ameliaâs concession stand. âYou donât blame Aiden for leaving with me yesterday, did you?â
___âWhy would I? You are Aidenâs father, so I wonât stop him If he is willing to go with you one day,â
Amelia said.
She only hoped that her son could live a better life, and she didnât care who it was with.
The look in Warrenâs eyes turned gloomy. âAiden is the one who matters most to you, huh?â
âThatâs right!â she replied with absolute certainty.
âSo can you marry me to give Aiden a better life?â Those words just slipped right out of his mouth.
He didnât even know what kind of answer he should expect from her.
âIf she doesnât want to, would it mean that her hatred toward me is more than her love for Aiden? But even if she wants to marry me, her son is all she will care about. What exactly am I looking forward to?â
Warren thought to himself.
âThereâs no way Iâll marry you,â Amelia said.
Warrenâs eyes suddenly narrowed. âYou donât want to?â
âYes, thatâs right! I donât! If we really get married, then our marriage will be like stagnant water. I donât think such a family can bring much positive energy to the child.â
âRemember what I said to you at the police station that day? Do you still want Aiden to be bullied and discriminated against by others? Besides, a family with both parents is also better for the growth of children.â
Amelia hesitated for a moment before saying, âAiden has a long way to go in his future. If life is rough, then itâs an obstacle that he must face. I believe that he can survive this, and I will try my best to protect him as well.â
Speaking of this, Amelia looked at Warren coldly. âIf you think that a family with both parents is good for Aidenâs growth, then I could just marry someone else. Thereâs no need for me to form a family with you.â
The look on Warrenâs face changed slightly, and he thought to himself with a frown, âWill she really choose another man if she wishes to start a family?â
