Chapter 1060
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
Rosalie was stunned. âIt doesnât matter if he loses the bet?â
âIf he loses, heâll die, but if Amelia doesnât care about his life or death, he means nothing to her. If thatâs the case, life or death doesnât matter to him anymore,â Jonathan replied.
Rosalie was dumbfounded. It seemed that Warren won the bet in the end. At least, although Amelia didnât love him anymore, she was not so ruthless to the point where she didnât care about his life.
Warren was sent to the hospital for emergency treatment. Fortunately, his wounds were not deep, but he lost a lot of blood. He finally received. over 13 ounces of blood transfusion just to be safe.
However, even during the blood transfusion, Warren held Ameliaâs hand tightly and refused to let go.
It was as if once he loosened his grip, he would never be able to hold her hand again.
There was no other sound in the ward besides the transfusion.
Rosalie and Jonathan had left the ward. At that moment, they were the only people in the ward.
Amelia looked at Warren and said, âLet go of me. Even if you hold my hand like this, itâs pointless.â
âI just want you to promise me that you wonât abort the child,â he said.
She was silent.
Warren exclaimed, âAmelia, you can scold, beat, or even kill me, but donât get rid of the child, okay?
You told me that Lucas was innocent and asked. me to spare him. What about the baby then? The child is innocent!â
Ameliaâs body trembled suddenly. After a while, she finally spoke hoarsely, âOkay. I wonât get an abortion.â
He was surprised and asked, âReally? Are you really willing to keep the child?â
âYes, Iâm keeping the child, but Warren, Iâm doing it not because of you. Itâs because the baby is innocent!â she said.
âOkay, okay, I know, I know!â Warren repeated.
âNow, can you let me go?â Amelia asked..
Then, Warren slowly loosened his grip. However, he was still reluctant to let her go completely.
When Amelia left the ward, Rosalie approached her and asked, âAmelia, are you okay? What did Warrenâ¦â
âI promised him to keep the baby,â Amelia said, looking exhausted.
Hearing this, Rosalie didnât know if she should be relieved. She couldnât. imagine how Warren would have reacted if Amelia had been determined to get an abortion.
âIâll take you home now then,â Rosalie said.
Amelia nodded.
The car headed for the concession stand. When Amelia arrived home, Matilda was startled by the blood stains on her clothes.
âWhy is there so much blood on you? Did you get hurt? What happened?â Matilda hurriedly asked.
Amelia said tiredly, âMom, itâs not my blood. Itâs Warrenâs.â
Matilda was shocked. âHis blood? Did you meet him this afternoon?â
Amelia hesitated momentarily and finally decided to say, âMom, Iâm pregnant with Warrenâs child!â
Matilda was stunned. âW-What did you say? Youâre pregnant?â
âYes.â
âAnd⦠itâs Warrenâs child?â Her voice was out of tune at the end of her sentence.
âYes,â Amelia answered again.
Matilda was silent. They looked at each other.
After a long time, Matilda said, âWhat the hell is going on? Didnât you say that you didnât love Warren at all anymore? How could you be pregnant with his child?â
Amelia smiled bitterly. âIt was just an accident. He got drunk and came to see me. Then, I took him to the hotel room.â
Matilda could guess the rest of the story without Ameliaâs explanation.
âIf so, does Warren know about the child?â Matilda asked.
âYes,â Amelia replied, telling Matilda what had happened between her and Warren earlier.
Matilda listened and secretly blamed herself.
She was a mother but failed to notice that Amelia was pregnant, not to mention the latter had vomited so many times.
At the thought of Ameliaâs struggle because of the baby these days, Matilda felt even more sorry for her.
âSince you decided to give birth to the baby, letâs raise it together. The concession stand is doing well anyway, and I can do some manual work in my spare time. It wonât be a problem for an old bag of bones like me to last another ten years,â Matilda said, Raising another child meant more financial burden. The least she could do at that moment was to lighten Ameliaâs load as much as she could.
Ameliaâs eyes were filled with tears. Matilda had already sacrificed so much for her.
She was supposed to enjoy her retirement, but she knew she had to work. hard again for Amelia.
Amelia took a deep breath and stated her decision. âMom, Iâm going to marry Warren!â
âWhat?â Matilda was shocked this time, even more than when she heard about Ameliaâs pregnancy earlier.
She knew better than anyone how much Amelia had suffered because of Warren. In the past, she hoped Warren would repent and get back together with Amelia. After all, they had Aiden.
That way, Aiden could have a complete family.
However, Amelia always denied it whenever Matilda asked about that matter. Therefore, she didnât think much about it anymore. She didnât. expect Amelia to propose it by herself later.
âYou want to marry Warren? Because of the baby in your belly?â Matilda asked.
Amelia replied, âThatâs part of the reason. I donât want the baby to be illegitimate and people to gossip more about you and Aiden. I know the neighbors had said mean things because I conceived Aiden out of wedlock.â
âWhy do you care about the gossip? You donât have to do something you donât want to do because of that!â Matilda advised.
Amelia looked down at her flat abdomen and said, âMom, even if your donât care about it, what about Aiden and the baby in my belly? Do they have to bear with the gossip forever?â
After a pause, Amelia continued, âAfter I marry Warren, at least even if I divorce him, there wonât be that much rumor. Besides, the child in my belly will be legitimate.â
Hearing this, Matilda just sighed and said nothing.
In the evening, after Aiden finished his homework, Amelia said, âAiden, Iâm going to marry your daddy, and I have a baby in my belly. Are you fine with me getting married and having the baby?â
