Chapter 1155
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
Such imbalanced feelings would only add to their burden in the end.
It would be better to cut it off now.
Days continued to pass as Amelia made trip after trip to the hospital. Every time she visited Warren, she would grow more appreciative of their time. Perhaps this would be a beautiful memory for her in the future.
There were too few good memories between them.
âAmelia, the doctor said I can be discharged tomorrow,â Warren informed her as soon as she came into the ward.
Amelia was stunned, thinking, âTomorrow? Thatâs too fast!â
When tomorrow came, it would be the end of them. Thinking of this, Amelia felt a sharp pain in her heart.
âWhatâs wrong? Why do you look so pale?â Warren asked.
âI-Itâs nothing.â She forced a smile. âTime passes so quickly that youâre getting discharged tomorrow.
âIs it? I think it passed quite slowly,â Warren remarked.
Lydia, who was in the ward, looked at the two and said, âYou two have a nice chat. Iâm going out for a while.â
With that, Lydia stood up and shot Amelia a meaningful glance before leaving.
Amelia understood her, thinking, âI should bring an end to everything. I will remember the brief period of the past few days forever.â
Taking a deep breath, Amelia put the lunch box on the nightstand of his bed as usual and then opened it one by one to let him eat what she had made.
After Warren finished off the last oat milk yogurt made by Amelia, he said, âYour oat milk yogurt tastes really good. Can you make it for me when I want it in the future?â
Amelia was silent.
âWhatâs wrong?â He said, âIs it too troublesome to make it? If so, you donât have to-â
09:24 âWarren, didnât you say you were waiting for my answer?â Amelia said abruptly, looking straight at him. âI think I can give you an answer now.â
Warren was stunned, and a trace of joy flashed across his face. âAre you willing to answer me now?â
âYes,â she replied.
His eyes were filled with nervousness and expectation, eventually turning into deep affection. âAmelia⦠Would you like to start over with me and become a true married couple? I swear to never let you down in my life. I will use the rest of my life to treat you well.â
Her heart was instantly filled with bitterness.
âThis man truly loves me, but Iâm destined not to give him the answer he wants,â she thought.
âNo, I donât want to.â When she heard her voice saying those words, the bitterness in her heart turned into pain.
Warrenâs expression changed abruptly. The nervousness, expectation, and affection in his eyes were replaced with disbelief like he did not expect her to refuse in such a straightforward manner.
She had been so gentle with him in the past few days, making food for him every day, and was willing to hold his hand until he fell asleep. Everything made him think she was willing to open up to him and that she held him dearly in her heart.
Now, her answer of refusal seemed to deal a heavy blow to him, causing him to be dumbfounded.
âW-What do you mean?â At that moment, he hoped he had misunderstood or misheard her.
Amelia calmly repeated, âWarren, I donât want to start over with you. After the baby is born, I think we should divorce. We donât need to delay it for a year as originally agreed.â
His face slowly turned paler by the second as he parted his lips with difficulty, mumbling, âYou⦠You donât want to?â
âYes, I donât want to.â
âBut your actions from the past few days show that you have feelings for me!â he said. The moments from the past few days, the gazes she gave 5714 09:21 him, and everything she did for him seemed to tell him she still loved him.
Yet, she gave him such an answer.
âWhat I showed was simply gratitude for saving me. Warren, all my love for you had disappeared since I went to prison back then. Relationships are hard to repair. Once those feelings are gone, theyâre gone for good. Donât you understand?â she spoke in a calm voice.
Only she knew how much restraint she needed to maintain this calmness.
âGratitude?â He reached out and grabbed her, seemingly agitated. âIf you were just grateful to me, why would you let me hold your hand to sleep? Why would you show a worried look every time the doctors and nurses come to change my medication?â
âWhy not? You got hurt for me, so naturally, I would worry about your injuries. The reason why I let you hold my hand to sleep is that I hope you can fall asleep soon and take good care of yourself,â Amelia explained, looking at Warren indifferently. âIt seems Iâve caused you to misunderstand.â
âMisunderstand? Did I really misunderstand?â he murmured. There was pain and indignation in his eyes, but most of all, doubt.
âWas the past few days really wishful thinking on my part?â he pondered. âNow that your injury is almost recovered and you are about to be discharged from the hospital, my ârepaymentâ ends here,â she said.
âRepayment?â He suddenly sneered and shouted in a hoarse voice, âSo, are you trying to tell me that everything youâve done these days is just to repay me?â
âYes,â she answered curtly. âCan you please release my hand? I have to pack up the lunch boxes.â
Yet, his hand continued clutching her wrist tightly as he stared at her intently with his dark eyes.
The air felt suffocating.
Amelia frowned and twisted her wrist but could not escape from his grip. âWarren, youâ¦â She was about to speak when he grabbed the back of her 09:24 head with his other hand and planted a deep kiss on her lips.
Amelia was dumbfounded.
âWhy is he kissing me? This shouldnât have happened!â she exclaimed inwardly.
Pressing her hands against his chest, she gathered all her might and tried to push him away. However, thinking of his injuries, she hesitated. In the end, she could only stand in a daze.
After a while, he finally ended the kiss.
âWhy didnât you push me away? If you didnât have feelings for me, you wouldâve rejected me, wouldnât you?â Warrenâs voice rang in Ameliaâs ear.
âSince when did you become so innocent?â Amelia looked at Warren and scoffed. âDoes kissing mean I have feelings for you? Even if we slept together, that canât prove I have feelings for you!â
