Chapter 1173
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
She wondered, âWhy is he here?
And heâs looking through⦠Is that my phone?â
Amelia was stunned for a moment before she stepped forward to get her phone back.
However, Warren deftly avoided her grab.
âItâs a violation of privacy if you look at someone elseâs phone like this,â Amelia said.
Warren looked at the phone and asked, âWhy didnât you delete this photo?â
The photo displayed on the screen was the picture of Warren and Aiden in the ward.
In the photo, Warren was dressed in a hospital gown. Although his face was pale, he smiled gently at Aiden, who was staring at the saline drip attached to Warren. Worry was evident in the boyâs eyes.
When she had seen this scene in the ward, she couldnât help but take a photo. After that, it remained saved on her phone.
Perhaps it was because there were too few scenes that portrayed such warmth between the father and son, so this photo was particularly precious.
âThatâs because I think Aidenâs expression in this is quite good, so⦠I didnât delete it.â Amelia found a random excuse. In truth, she was actually reluctant to delete it.
Since she broke up with him in the hospital, she had been staring at this photo of him from time to time.
It was not until then that she realized she didnât have any photos of him at all.
Even if she wanted to see more photos of him, there was none.
âReally?â Warren said, âI thought you would say that it was because you regretted it and found out that you still had feelings for me, so you were reluctant to delete this photo and would even often stare at it. After all, if you had said so, it would have impressed me even more and made me 1/4 08:53 possibly agree to your request, right?â
Amelia was stunned and suddenly felt a mess under his gaze.
âWarren, what exactly do you want to say?â she asked.
He looked at her with complicated emotions shining in his eyes. âDo you regret it now?â
âWhat?â She was surprised.
âI asked whether you regret everything now-about what you said to me in the hospital that day and how you stubbornly chose to abandon me. If you hadnât said those words or done those things at that time, then I would not have chosen hypnosis to forget this relationship. In that case, I would naturally help you with whatever you need now. You wouldnât have needed to beg for it at all.â
As he spoke, he stood up and approached her. âAmelia, do you regret it?â
His questioning made her nervous.
Did she regret it? At that time, it was more accurate to say that she had made that choice because she thought it was the best option, not because/ of Lydiaâs request.
She hadnât wanted him to give up everything in order to love her. Her only hope was that he could live well and safely.
âWhatâs the point of asking these questions now?â she replied.
He smiled coldly. âWhat if I insist on getting an answer?â
He approached her, every step he took adding more to the pressure she felt.
Amelia stepped back subconsciously until she reached the wall and no longer had any escape.
His hands pressed against the walls on both sides of her body, almost as if he had imprisoned her in his arms.
He bent down slightly, and his breath puffed on her face. His cold voice sounded in her ear again. âDo you regret it?â
Her body trembled, and her long eyelashes covered the eyes that had seen too much. After a while, she raised her eyes and looked at him. âAt that time, I just made the best choice for you and me.â
08:53 âThe best choice?â He looked at her mockingly. âWhat gives you the right to make that decision for me? Have you ever asked me? You made a self-righteous decision without even gaining my opinion!â
âIâ¦â She choked on her words.
He raised his finger and stroked her lips. âYou know what? If you had said that you regretted it just now, maybe I really would have agreed to your request and let Alicia go. Unfortunately, you missed the opportunity.â
She met his eyes and said, âEven if I said that, you wouldnât have agreed to my request.â Because he was no longer the man who loved her, he would never agree so easily because of one sentence from her.
After so many years, she naturally understood how cruel a man like him could be to someone he didnât love.
That was without taking into account that she had hurt him.
âSo who are you going to ask for help if I donât? Lucas?â There was a trace of jealousy in his voice that he didnât notice.
Amelia looked at Warren in surprise. âWhy are you suddenly bringing up Lucas?â
âWhy canât I mention him? Is he important to you?â he retorted. âAmelia, Amelia, you really are something, huh? One moment, youâre desper ly pleading with me, and in the next instant, youâre walking around w Lucas.â
âLucas has nothing to do with whatever happened between us. I just bumped into him on the street,â she said anxiously.
âYou bumped into him?â His disbelief was evident on his face. âThen y two are really destined to meet each other, being able to bump into each other in Lofbury. Tell me, what are the odds of two people from Strico meeting in another city?â
His words had annoyance and exasperation coursing through Amelia. She thought, âIt seems he wonât listen to me no matter how I explain.â
âIt really was just a coincidence, Warren. Itâs my fault for rejecting you back then, and Iâm sorry, okay? Donât get mad at Lucas,â she uttered.
However, her explanation simply grated on his nerves, especially considering how anxious she seemed for Lucas. The frown on his face deepened as he asked, âWhy are you so protective of Lucas? Are you 3A 08:54 afraid that I will hurt him or vent my anger on him?â
âI just donât want innocent people to be involved!â she replied.
âInnocent?â He snorted. âSo youâre telling me you donât love Lucas and have no feelings for him?â
She took a deep breath and said, âIf you want to talk semantics, then yes, I do have feelings for him, but itâs the kind between friends. Iâve never loved Lucas!â
âSo who do you love?â he demanded in a low voice.
She pursed her lips and looked away from his face.
How was she supposed to say that the man she loved was him?
From the very beginning, he was her first love and the man she had chosen to be âthe one.â
Unfortunately, she encountered too many things later on. She thought she didnât love him anymore and had completely put him down, but as it turned out, this love had simply remained hidden deep in her heart.
But now, it seemed to be deepening.
