Chapter 1187
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
When Amelia saw that, she didnât say anything more and got into the car.
The car slowly left Lofbury and arrived in Strico three hours later.
When Matilda saw Amelia being driven back in a luxury car, accompanied by a young man who showed Matilda a respectful expression and spoke to Matilda politely, she immediately asked in confusion, âThis isâ¦? Did Warren send him to drive you back?â
âYes, Mom,â Amelia replied.
âNow, you and Warrenâ¦â
âItâs a long story, Mom. Iâll tell you in a minute,â Amelia replied. Then she said goodbye to Frederick and returned to the concession stand with Matilda.
At the concession stand, Amelia told her mother everything that had happened at Strico, but not about Lucas and the fact that she had been hospitalized for abdominal pain.
Matilda wore a heavy expression as she listened to Amelia. âSo youâre saying⦠youâre still going to live with him afterward?â
âYes, but itâs only a one-plus year, not to mention he didnât say anything about Aiden. This place is closer to Aidenâs school, so Iâd like you to take Aiden with you. After that, Iâll live with Warren and the newborn. Warren canât stay in Strico all day because his main job is in Lofbury. I donât think heâll spend much time in Strico at all. Anyway, weâll be divorced one year after I give birth,â Amelia explained.
She thought, âMaybe when that day comes, Warren and I will go our separate ways.â
Matilda sighed. âIt seems to be the only way.â
âItâs just that youâre going to have to work harder for the next year-plus,â Amelia added.
âI do not mind as long as you and two children are safe. It doesnât matter how hard I work!â Matilda insisted.
Ameliaâs eyes turned red as she hugged Matilda. âMom, itâs good to have you.â No matter how many hardships Amelia had faced, Matilda was always by Ameliaâs side, protecting her.
Matilda patted Amelia gently and said, âRemember, I am your mother.â The sentence alone carried its weight.
The next day, Amelia met with Rosalie and Lillian, who were shocked to learn of Amelia and Warrenâs agreement.
âNo way. What exactly is Warren trying to do? Didnât he even go to the extent of hypnosis to erase his feelings? Then why does he still want to live with you like a normal married couple? And whatâs this about agreeing to divorce afterward?â Lillian was confused.
Rosalie analyzed the situation. âCould Warren be trying to utilize this period to forget about you completely?â
Amelia smiled bitterly. âExactly. He said that sometimes people want the most what they canât get, but once they get it, they might realize what they want all the time isnât so special. Maybe Iâm not that special to him after all.â
Lillian had a headache when she heard that. âHow could he be like that? Did he ever think he might be the one who ends up not wanting a divorce after living together with you?â
âNo, he wonât.â Amelia shook her head. âHeâs not the old him anymore. When I went to see him, the way he looked at me made me feel like I was insignificant to him.â
Lillian hesitated for a moment and then said, âAmelia, thereâs no need for you and Warren to get to this point. Your physical condition isnât necessarily that bad, not to mention that five years of safe time has passed. Why donât we think of a way to restore Warrenâs hypnotically erased emotions instead? That way, both of youâ¦â
âNo need for that. Letâs leave things as they are. This is good enough. I donât want him to risk his life for me anymore,â Amelia cut in, suppressing her sadness and forcing a faint smile and added, âLillian, itâs my choice.â
Lillian felt even sadder when she saw the smile on Ameliaâs face and thought, âOf course, Amelia has developed feelings for Warren again. But why canât two people who loved each other in the first place be together? Even if oneâs love is too deep while the otherâs is too shallow, couldnât they still be together? No matter how deep or shallow the love is, it is still love, isnât it?â
Rosalie quickly changed the subject when she saw that. âRegardless, now that Warren has agreed to cooperate with Aliciaâs probation, thereâs hope that Amelia will learn about Rileyâs whereabouts from Alicia. However, letting Alicia off like this seems to be giving her too easy a pass.â
âWhat choice do we have otherwise? She wonât tell unless sheâs released from prison,â Lillian said.â
âI have an idea, but it may be difficult to implement, and it requires Warrenâs cooperation,â Rosalie said.
She did not want a perpetrator to escape the law, but she wanted to help Amelia find Rileyâs whereabouts because she could empathize with Ameliaâs feelings.
âTell us the details!â Lillian was interested.
Amelia was also all ears.
So Rosalie lowered her voice and told Lillian and Amelia her idea.
Lillianâs eyes widened in astonishment, and she asked in uncertainty, âDo you think this can work?â
âI stumbled upon the idea by chance. It should work if the arrangement is sufficient. However, the plan requires the cooperation of several parties. And since Warren is a victim, we need his cooperation during the trial. We just donât know if heâll agree to that. But this is the only way we can find out where Riley is and let Alicia reap what she sows,â Rosalie explained.
Amelia bit her lips hesitantly.
âAmelia, why donât you give it a try?â Lillian suggested. âIt would be infuriating if someone like Alicia could get away.â
Amelia said, âIâll talk to Warren again and see if I can convince him.â After all, it would be inconvenient for Warren to cooperate with a play.
Now that Amelia had made enormous efforts to talk Warren into agreeing to Aliciaâs probation, she was not sure if she would cause unnecessary trouble by trying to convince Warren again.
But when Amelia thought of Alicia and Jasper masterminding a kidnapping and hurting Warren, she could not help but hold a grudge against Alicia.
âOkay. The discussion is set!â Lillian dusted off her hands. âWe rarely get together. Maybe we should find some entertainment.â
âWhat entertainment? Amelia is pregnant, let alone the fact that you have to supervise your daughter.
What entertainment can we find?â Rosalie asked. That was why their reunion would be held at Callumâs mansion. It was all for the convenience of Lillian being able to see Yasmin at any time.
Anyway, Lillian would have to go and see Yasmin once Yasmin woke up. even though Yasmin had a nanny to take care of her.
