Chapter 1196
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
âI indeed know Rileyâs whereabouts. How about I get on the plane first and send a text message to you just before it departs? If I donât send a text message after it takes off, the Youngblood family can find a way to prevent the plane from departing,â Alicia declared.
Rosalie gazed at Alicia, contemplated for a moment, and replied, âVery well. Letâs hope you keep your word.â
âOf course.â Alicia grinned once more.
30 million dollars was swiftly transferred to Aliciaâs account, and her flight ticket had also been purchased.
While Alicia couldnât leave the city during her probation, she had confidence that the Youngblood family could facilitate her departure if they wished.
At the airport, she played with her mobile phone, enjoying being escorted by Rosalie and Amelia. As she boarded the plane, Alicia turned to Amelia and said, âI doubt Riley expected someone to rescue her from that dire situation. Amelia, you have a kind heart. Youâve done so much for Riley, and thanks to Riley, Iâm safe and able to lead a good life abroad.â
After passing through the security checkpoint, Alicia left.
Rosalie approached Amelia and whispered, âDonât worry. Sheâll end up with nothing to be happy about.â
âMm, I know. Iâm just concerned about Rileyâs current situation,â Amelia replied, looking troubled.
âWeâll find out soon, if she genuinely knows where Riley is,â Rosalie assured her.
As the cabin door closed and the plane prepared for takeoff, the flight attendants instructed passengers to turn off their mobile phones. It was at this moment that Alicia nonchalantly composed a brief text message and sent it.
The plane began its ascent shortly after. Alicia finally breathed a sigh of relief and smiled.
30 million dollars would provide her with a comfortable life abroad.
However, the message she sent contained no information about Rileyâs whereabouts. It was merely a fictitious address.
Upon arriving there, Amelia would discover that Riley was not present.
Alicia had no intention of revealing the truth. She wanted Amelia to be tormented by guilt, and she wanted Riley to continue suffering.
âRiley will endure more, and Amelia will carry the weight of guilt for the rest of her life. Meanwhile, Iâll enjoy a happy life abroad. Itâs perfect!â Alicia thought.
The more she ruminated on it, the more content she became. She glanced at the time and noted that she had five hours remaining until her destination. Alicia requested a blanket and planned to rest for a while.
Alicia couldnât discern how long she had slept, but when she awoke, she heard an announcement over the loudspeaker that the plane was preparing to land.
âFinally! Weâre there, arenât we? My new life is about to begin!â she thought.
Alicia eagerly anticipated the planeâs arrival.
However, when the plane landed and the doors opened, her surprise was immeasurable. The airport in front of her looked shockingly familiar-it was Strico Airport, the same one she had just departed from.
She raised her head and surveyed the surroundings. Not far away, the prominent sign âStrico Welcomes Youâ caught her eye.
âThis is⦠Strico?â she pondered incredulously. âDid the five hours on the plane amount to nothing?
What happened? I purchased a flight ticket to another country! Why is this occurring? And why are the other passengers seemingly unperturbed? They appear calm!â
Just then, Aliciaâs pupils contracted, and her face reflected sudden realization as she observed a police car approaching. Her legs wavered, and she almost couldnât stand.
The police car came to a halt in front of her, and a police officer approached. He declared, âAlicia Taffron, youâre under arrest. Come with us.â
âI⦠I havenât done anything. I was sentenced to probation by the court! Besides, I havenât left the country. You have no reason to arrest me!â
Alicia protested vehemently, However, the two policemen remained silent and pressed her down, swiftly handcuffing her wrists.
âLet go of me! You police are arresting people for no good reason. I want to file a complaint and inform the media! Why are you arresting me? Iâm not a criminal!â Alicia shouted loudly.
âYouâve been a criminal from the beginning to the end,â another voice declared just then.
Alicia looked up to see a black car arriving. Rosalie and Amelia stepped out of the vehicle.
âWhat does this mean? The court already sentenced me to probation! Iâm on probation now, and I havenât committed any crimes. Why are you arresting me?â Alicia asked, glancing at Amelia. âAmelia, please talk to them! I did what we agreed upon. You. You canât just turn your back on me!â
Ameliaâs face displayed a mixture of disappointment and bitterness. She responded, âAlicia, the address you provided doesnât exist. Thereâs no No. 398 Gornburg Road in Kenfort. The numbering stops at 351!â
Although Rosalie had warned Amelia beforehand, explaining that Alicia might have fabricated a lot and might not know Rileyâs whereabouts, Amelia had held onto a glimmer of hope. It wasnât until she checked the address from the message that she realized it didnât exist.
Alicia stammered, âYes⦠I-I remembered it incorrectly. It should be 298!â
âReally? Are you certain itâs 298? If Riley isnât found there, Alicia, whatâs your next move?â Rosalie questioned coldly.
Aliciaâs expression fluctuated once more, and this time, she didnât provid a simple excuse of misremembering. Instead, she glared at Rosalie with intensity and retorted, âIf you canât find her, so be it. Iâm on probation, and I havenât committed a crime. You have no right to detain me! If you detain me again, Iâll sue the Youngblood family and the policefor conspiring against me!â
At that moment, another voice chimed in. âGo ahead, try suing me. Do you truly believe itâs that easy to extract 30 million dollars from the Youngblood family?â
Alicia shivered and gazed at Jonathan with wide eyes. She was drenched in cold sweat.
âM-Mr. Youngblood, I-I can give up the 30 million dollars. I⦠didnât intend to extort money. It was your wife and Amelia who wanted to give it to me! Iâ¦â
However, Jonathan paid no heed to her words. He merely spoke to the police officer restraining her, âTake her back. Thank you for your efforts today.â
As his words hung in the air, two police officers moved to escort Alicia into their vehicle.
