Chapter 1239
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
âIt hurts againâ¦â Warren mused.
Warrenâs hand suddenly held his chest. âWhy does my heart hurt again?
How much did I love Amelia in the past? Even now, it still hurts so much,â Warren thought.
Warren pounded his chest as if he wanted to transfer the pain away in this way.
Amelia didnât know how long she had slept, but in her sleep, she felt as if she was being stared at.
As soon as Amelia opened her eyes, she saw Warren sitting on the couch on one side of the ward with his dark eyes staring straight at her.
Amelia trembled and slowly propped herself up to sit up. âYou⦠Why are you here?â She glanced out of the window. It was still dark outside, evidently not yet dawn.
Warren pursed his thin lips and continued to stare at Amelia in silence.
Amelia bit her lip a little uneasily. âIf you are worried about the baby in my stomach, I can promise that I will work hard to hold on until the end. Unless the doctor says that a C-section is necessary, I wonât take the initiative and ask to deliver early. I know that the longer it stays in my stomach, the higher its chance of survival.â
Amelia spoke these words to reassure Warren.
Yet, Warrenâs face became more and more solemn.
Warren wondered, âDoes Amelia not know that the longer the child stays in her belly, the higher the risk she has to face?â
âAmelia, do you think I will save you no matter what happens to you? Do you think that I will take all the risks for you even if you give birth to the baby?â Warrenâs voice sounded in the quiet ward.
She looked at him gently and shook her head. âNo, I never thought so. Warren, you donât need to take any risks for me. I know that there will be great risks in giving birth to this child, but my choices are my own, and I will bear the consequences.â
âConsequences?â He suddenly sneered, stood up from the couch, and 10:45 rushed to her bed. âWhat kind of consequences do you think you can bear?â
Only then did she realize that his eyes were scarlet. âWhatâs wrong with your eyes?â She subconsciously reached out to touch his eyes.
However, he abruptly pushed her hand away. âIâm asking you, what do you think you would have to risk to bear the consequences!â
His iron grip was around her hand, and it was hurting her.
Amelia frowned in pain and replied in a calm voice, âMy life, I can only risk my life to bear the consequences.â
Her words only made his chest even more uncomfortable.
She said she would risk her life like it was nothing. Well⦠âWhat about your mother? What about Aiden? Have you ever thought what would happen to them if something happened to you?â He mused, âWhat about me? What would happen to me if you were gone?â
Nonetheless, Warren didnât say the rest of what he wanted to say.
âI know, but⦠I canât help but take the risk. After all, the baby in my stomach is also a life,â Amelia said.
âTake the risk? What if you lose your life? Are you going to make your mother take care of the children?â Warren sneered.
Amelia said, âI have been saving retirement money for my mother throughout the years, and I also told Rosalie and Lillian that if anything were to happen to me, I hope that they would help me take care of my mother. As for the two children⦠I was thinking that you would not sit by and do nothing. Of course, if you refuse to support them, my mother, Rosalie, and Lillian will also help raise them.â
Ameliaâs calm voice seemed to show that she was not worried about whether she would live or die. No matter how much she was reluctant to go, she had calmly made plans for the future of her family.
However, the more calm Amelia was, the angrier Warren became.
âDo you think itâs worth it to trade your life for a child?â Warren roared in a low voice.
âI donât know.â Amelia smiled bitterly and continued, âItâs hard to say whether this kind of thing is worth it in this world. But as a mother, I want to do my best to protect my childâs life.â
That was also why, at that time, knowing that her life would be in danger, Amelia still chose to keep this child.
âYeah, you donât know. There are too many things that you donât know.â Warren suddenly released Amelia and looked down at her, staring at her deeply. âAmelia, donât think that one day when you are really in danger, I will risk my life to save you again. Now I donât love you at all.â
âYes, I know.â Amelia smiled lightly. âIf one day I am in danger, I also hope you wonât need to save me.
Just live well.â
This was her greatest hope. She only wanted Warren to live well.
Warren suddenly felt terrible. Ameliaâs smile at the moment was so dazzling that his heart hurt againâ¦
Riley learned from Rosalie that Amelia needed to return to Strico for the delivery.
âIs Amelia okay?â Riley asked hurriedly in a hoarse voice. Every word was. difficult to say for her.
Rosalie knew that it was because Riley hadnât spoken much for a long time.
It would probably take a while for Riley to get used to speaking again.
âAmelia⦠is probably not okay, but I will help her no matter what and we will go through it together. All you have to do now is cooperate with the specialist for your consultation to prove that you are a normal person. That way, Ameliaâs efforts will not be in vain,â Rosalie said.
Riley nodded. âOkay. I will cooperate with them.ââ
âAlso, you should stay in the hospital during this period. If you need anything, tell me and I will prepare it for you,â Rosalie said.
Riley said with a slight change in her expression, âCan⦠I go somewhere?â
âWhere do you want to go?â Rosalie asked.
âThe cemetery,â Riley spoke slowly.
Rosalie was stunned, and then she saw a tear flashing in Rileyâs eyes. As if Rosalie had realized something, Rosalie asked, âDo you want to see Nicholas?â
Riley slowly closed her eyes, and her tears began to fall. She nodded vigorously to express her affirmation.
Riley thought, âYeah. I really want to see Nicholas.â
Nicholas lost his life to protect Riley, but Riley did not pay her respects to Nicholas even once.
Riley really wanted to see Nicholas as she had too many things to tell him. She used to be locked up in the hospital and couldnât get out at all, nor could she go see Nicholas. But she could do it now.
