Chapter 1251
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
After many years of marriage, Harriet realized Zephyrâs heart was even crueler than she had imagined.
But now, even if Zephyr was unwilling to help her, she had to drag the Scott family down. The Summer family must not fall, and she couldnât let Riley get everything back.
Harriet came to the office building of Scott Group and went in.
The staff within the company were well aware that she was Mrs. Scott. As soon as Harriet stepped into the elevator, they immediately started discussing her.
After all, everyone was well aware of the latest breaking news.
Harriet walked to Zephyrâs office but was stopped by the secretary.
âMrs. Scott, Mr. Scott is talking to someone in the office now. If you wish to see him, please wait a moment.ââ
âI need to discuss an urgent matter with him,â Harriet said.
âYou still need to wait.â The secretary was firm.
Harriet felt agitated as she perceived the secretaryâs gaze filled with disdain directed toward her.
âWhy are you looking at me like that? What? Do you believe that something bad happened to the Summer family recently, and now you, as merely a secretary, think less of meâ Harriet scolded directly.
The secretary replied calmly, âMrs. Scott, you think too much. I didnât mean that.â
âNo? If not, why not allow me in Mr. Scottâs office?â
âMr. Scott said that no one is allowed to enter the office at the moment,â said the secretary.
As soon as the secretary finished speaking, Harriet slapped her in the face. âIâm Mrs. Scott. If you donât let me in, believe it or not, youâll be fired right away!â
âI donât know when the Summer family became so powerful even my secretary could be fired at any time.â Suddenly, Zephyrâs voice emerged.
Harriet was astonished and stunned as she watched Zephyr and the companyâs senior executives walk out of the office.
âZephyr, I⦠I just wanted to see you, but your secretary stopped me,â Harriet explained.
âThatâs what I specifically instructed. She didnât do anything wrong by stopping you,â Zephyr said coldly.
Undoubtedly, this was a humiliating blow delivered in front of everyone. Harrietâs face flushed with both anger and embarrassment.
What was even more mortifying for her was Zephyrâs statement, âYou may be my wife now, but that doesnât entitle you to fire employees from our company. In addition, if you hit someone, shouldnât you apologize?â
âApologize?â Harriet was stunned. She wondered, âDid he just ask me to apologize? Why doesnât he consider the impact on my reputation if I apologize to a secretary?â
Thinking about the Summer familyâs current situation, Harriet could only apologize to his secretary aggrievedly before stepping into the CEOâs office of Zephyr.
As soon as she entered the office, Harriet complained with grievances, âZephyr, we have been married for so many years. Shouldnât you show some respect to me in front of others? Your actions earlier could harm my reputation if the whole company finds out that the CEOâs wife apologized to a secretary.â
Zephyr walked to the desk and sat down. âIf youâre afraid of being shameless, donât do anything shameless. Are you here in my company at this hour because you need my assistance for the Summer family?â
âArenât you obligated to help the Summer family, considering Iâm your wife, and we have a son?â Harriet asked.
âNothing in this world is taken for granted, just like when I married you,â Zephyr replied indifferently.
Harrietâs expression changed. âAre you blaming me for forcing you to marry me by using my pregnancy?â
Zephyr didnât answer the question but nonchalantly stated, âThe Summer family is in a tough spot now.
The Scott family, unfortunately, will not offer any assistance. If the Scott family were to intervene, it would only bring us down.â
The icy tone of his voice suggested that he was merely discussing the pros and cons of something mundane Harrietâs heart skipped a beat, and she pondered, âIs this man still so cold even in such circumstances?
If it was Riley who married him, would he still be so cold when the Summer family is going through this incident?â
In the end, she repressed those words and kept them to herself.
âIf something happens to the Summer family, it will affect the joint projects they have with the Scott family. The Scott family will also suffer heavy losses at that time,â Harriet stated.
However, Zephyr remained silent, implying that these losses were something he had already anticipated.
Harriet continued, âSo, you donât care about Hendrick either? Do you think he will be able to maintain his upper-class status in Lommore, given the fact that his mother spent her time in jail before? Iâm afraid everyone will laugh at him behind his back. A mother who has been in prison is a stain he canât get rid of in his life!â
Zephyrâs eyes narrowed abruptly, intensifying the icy coldness within them. âSo back then, the Summer family really sent Riley, who wasnât ill, to a psychiatric hospital?â
âYes.â This time, Harriet openly acknowledged it.
âWhy?â he asked harshly.
âRiley held 35 percent of the shares in Summer Group. If she truly gained control of the group, how are my parents and I supposed to lead a good life? You should know how much she hated us back in the day!â Harriet replied.
Zephyr felt his heart sink, and he was well aware of it.
âJust because of the shares?â
âAnd I love you. But at that time, even if Riley broke your heart, you still didnât call off the engagement. I want to offer you an alternative and also give myself a chance,â Harriet explained. It even seemed as if everything she did was for Zephyrâs sake.
Zephyrâs frustration boiled over. âYou⦠I didnât ask you to offer me an alternative!â
âWould you still marry Riley if she hadnât been admitted to the psychiatric hospital despite betraying your feelings?â Harriet questioned.
Zephyr was at a loss for words. At this point, he was unsure if he would have married Riley had she not been admitted to the psychiatric hospital at that time.
Even though he hated Rileyâs betrayal, he still loved her.
Harriet paused and continued, âNow, the doctors who diagnosed Riley canât be contacted. Maybe they have been caught like that attending physician. Perhaps there will be additional incriminating evidence on the internet regarding the Summer family. If she continues to investigate, I will be imprisoned, and Hendrick will have a criminal mother. Can you truly bear the consequences?â
Zephyr was silent.
Harriet didnât urge him. Since the Scott family cared a lot about Hendrick, if Zephyr was not willing to help them, she decided to talk directly to Zephyrâs parents. She knew they might not want their grandson to have a mother who had been in jail.
