Chapter 1259
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
Rosalie bit her lips lightly. She lowered her head and gently stroked her abdomen with both hands.
Although Jonathan didnât say the word â itself, she understood the meaning of his words.
If she were not pregnant, she would avoid getting pregnant and choose not to have any more children.
But right then, the accident had already transpired, and she was pregnant. As a mother, she could not possibly give her child up easily.
Taking a deep breath, she looked up at Jonathan and said, âThe babyâs condition and my health are still uncertain. We need to have another prenatal examination. Letâs make a decision after the results are out, okay?â
At her cautious gaze, Jonathan ultimately concurred softly.
Rosalie breathed a sigh of relief. She lifted her hands and hugged Jonathan. âDonât worry, Jon. It has been six years since I last gave birth to the baby. For a normal C-section, a woman can give birth again after two years. Besides, I have always taken care of myself. Things wonât be that bad.â
âPromise me that if a choice must be made between you and your child, you must choose yourself, okay? I donât want to be in Warrenâs shoes one day!â Jonathan murmured in a low voice.
Stunned, Rosalie knew that he was thinking of Ameliaâs current situation. Right then, Amelia remained in the hospital on bed rest. Although Warren didnât say anything, he visited her daily in the middle of the night when everyone was asleep.
However, Amelia didnât know that.
She only knew because Jonathan previously told her on the phone, informed by the bodyguards he sent to the hospital to protect Amelia.
They even discussed Warrenâs feelings toward Amelia at present.
âHe must still love Amelia. Otherwise, considering his character, he would never visit her ward and stay there for such a long time every night.â
âThen, if something were to happen to Amelia, do you think Warren 11:15 7 would be willing to⦠save Amelia?â
âYes,â Jonathan said with absolute certainty.
Rosalie, on the other hand, wasnât that certain. After all, Warren had been hypnotized and had forgotten his love for Amelia. Even though Warren had then developed some feelings for Amelia, she doubted that it was deep enough that he would be willing to risk his life to save her.
âRosie, Warren can at least use his blood and liver to save Amelia when she is in danger. But if it were you, what would I have to trade?â Jonathan remarked.
Inwardly, he lamented, âBack when she was pregnant with triplets, I lived in fear each day, watching as she suffered for the children yet was powerless to do anything. Am I now to experience the same fear and powerlessness again?â
A sense of sorrow swamped Rosalie. His voice was soft, and he neither shouted nor wailed, but it made her feel like crying.
âItâs still too early now. Iâm only six weeks pregnant. When weâve gone to the hospital for a detailed examination, we will consider whether to keep the baby or give it up, okay?â Rosalie suggested. She initially thought that her unexpected pregnancy would be a joyful occasion.
But she never expected him to have so many fears.
âIâm sorry. Iâm really sorryâ¦â Jonathan apologized incessantly.
âThere is nothing for you to apologize for. Maybe God thinks itâs not lively enough with three children, so he wants to give us another one.â While saying that, she kissed him on the lips. âTrust me. I will treasure my life because I still need to keep you and the children company. I wonât be impulsive.â
Jonathan passively accepted her kiss of comfort, musing, âReally? Back then, she risked her own life to keep the three children. What about now? What would she sacrifice for the baby sheâs carrying?â
Late at night, Warren went to Ameliaâs ward again. For some inexplicable reason, it seemed that his heart could only gradually settle when he gazed at her sleeping countenance every night when everything was still, and he could then finally go to sleep.
But to his surprise, she was still awake when he stepped into her ward this time.
11:15 C On instinct, he turned around to leave âDonât go!â Amelia shouted. If it werenât for her bulging belly and the fact that it was inconvenient for her to get out of bed, she would have rushed over and grabbed hold of him.
Warren halted in his tracks and ultimately stayed in the ward.
âDid you come to visit me?â Amelia asked.
âWhat does it matter?â Warren countered, his gaze alighting on her waxen face. Recently, her complexion had grown increasingly worse. He knew that it was a sign of her liver function deteriorating.
Her condition was already dire. Even if the baby were taken out of her, her existing liver wouldnât be able to last long.
âIf so, I will be very happy. If not, Iâll feel lucky to see you,â Amelia replied.
His eyes narrowed unconsciously. âAre women all so fickle? When I appeared in front of you in the past, you told me to stop showing up in front of you and not to intrude on your peaceful life. Yet, you now feel. happy and lucky? Donât you think itâs too ironic of you to say such a thing, Amelia?â
âIt doesnât matter if you think Iâm fickle.â Amelia smiled slightly. Although the doctor didnât say anything to her, she could still more or less feel the changes in her physical condition.
Her liver was probably gradually growing necrotic, and her body was drawing ever closer to the end of her life.
âCould you come closer so I could see you better?â she requested, for she might not be able to gaze at him in such a manner anymore in the years to come.
In fact, she didnât even know whether she could complete the so-called contract with him. But if something really happened to her, and she died before the end of the contract, their marriage would naturally be invalid.
Then, he would be free again.
âIs it necessary? Donât you think youâve seen enough of me?â Warren said coldly.
âYes,â Amelia asserted. âI really want to see you up close.â
Warren pursed his thin lips and walked over to the side of her hospital bed. Then, he sat in the chair at the side. âWell, you can look your fill now.â
She carefully scrutinized his face, her eyes traveling over his eyebrows, eyes, nose, and lips. âWho do you think our second child will resemble? The doctor hinted that the baby is a girl. Iâm sure sheâll be an adorable child.â
After a brief pause, she continued âAfter Iâm discharged from the hospital, Warren, I would like to take a family photo together, okay? Then, even if we really go our separate ways in the future, we used to be a family at least.â
