Chapter 1275
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
Bruce thought for a while and said, âLet me think about it.â
Riley nodded. For her, that was all she could do for Nicholas.
The news that Harriet became the main suspect in Nicholasâ car accident soon spread widely among the media, and it became one of the trending searches on the internet.
Every day, a large number of reporters gathered outside the Scott residence and the Griffin residence.
Many reporters came to wait outside Rileyâs house after learning about her address.
However, Riley kept saying one thing to those reporters. âIâm confident that the truth will soon be revealed and that the person who killed Nicholas will pay for it.â
A reporter said, âIt is said that you let it out on purpose this time to have the police go after your sister, Harriet. After all, she married Zephyr right after you were put into the psychiatric hospital. What if she went to jail, eventually? Would you come back to Zephyr if they got divorced?â
This was one of the most concerning things on the internet recently.
Many people concluded that Riley did this because she wanted to marry into the Scott family again.
Riley, who was about to leave, stopped and said to those reportersâ cameras, âIâll never be with Zephyr again. I donât care if he divorces Harriet because all I want to do is uncover the truth about Nicholasâ
death.â
Two hours later, Zephyr saw the clip of Riley talking on his phone and had mixed feelings in his heart.
He thought, âSheâll never be with me again? Who is she to say that?
She cheated on me! How dare she say that?
She made it sound like sheâd abandoned me.
Besides, is Riley really doing this to uncover the truth about Nicholasâ death? Or is she up to something else? And is Harriet responsible for the accident as she claimed?â
âThis is all the file you wanted, Mr. Scott.â Zephyrâs assistant handed him the file and left the office.
Zephyr looked through the paper in his hand and became angrier. This was all the evidence the police had so far, and it all proved Harrietâs involvement.
Although it was still in the prosecution phase and the case hadnât been formally tried yet, the evidence was enough to convince him that Harriet had made the accident.
He couldnât believe that the car accident he had always thought was just a coincidence was planned by his wife.
âWhat else are you hiding from me, Harriet?â he thought.
Now, Harriet was still Zephyrâs wife, so this case was not only about the Summer family. It was murder!
No matter what verdict Harriet faced, she would involve the Scott family in this!
The next day in the detention center, Zephyr looked at Harriet sitting opposite him.
âWhy did you do this?â It was the first thing he had said to her since he had sat down.
He wanted to know why she did this. He wasnât here to figure out whether she was wronged because all the files said that she was not.
âIs that all you have to say? Shouldnât you be asking me how Iâve been these days and telling me that youâre getting a lawyer to get me out of here?â Harriet stared at Zephyr.
âI just want to know why you did this. You didnât have to do that at that time!â said Zephyr.
âReally?â Harriet suddenly laughed. âWhy do you think so?â
He pursed his lips. If it hadnât been for the accident, he would have married Riley even though they had constant quarrels. After all, he truly loved her and wanted to marry her.
âDid you do this to marry me or to get all of Rileyâs shares in the Summer family?â asked Zephyr.
âYou wonât get the answer from me. If you donât want Hendrickâs mother to become a murderer and the Scott familyâs name to be tarnished, then you better find a way to help me win this case. I guess itâs just a piece of cake for you,â said Harriet.
Zephyr suddenly narrowed his eyes. âAre you threatening me?â
âNo, Iâm just telling you the truth. For the Scott family, my acquittal is the best solution, isnât it?â Harriet said.
âYeah, itâs indeed the best solution for the Scott family, but not my will. You probably forget about one thing, Harriet. I hate it when people threaten me!â Zephyr turned around and left after saying that.
Harriet panicked a little. âYouâll regret it if you donât help me this time, Zephyr. Youâll definitely regret it!â
Zephyr stopped and said coldly, âMy biggest regret is marrying you. You shouldnât be Hendrickâs mother because you donât deserve it!â
Harriet bit her red lips. She was right. He was already regretting it.
She thought, âYes, I donât deserve to be Hendrickâs mother, and neither does Riley!
Youâll never get to know that Riley is Hendrickâs biological mother. And this poor boy has no choice but to die. I canât wait for it!â
Zephyr came out of the detention center and got into the car.
The driver asked respectfully, âAre we going back to the Scott residence now, Mr. Scott?â
âNo, just keep driving. I donât care where weâre going,â said Zephyr.
Hearing this, the driver began to drive around the city. Zephyr turned h head and looked out of the window at the street scene that kept disappearing from his sight.
Ironically, he had always been very proud of himself, but this time, he was fooled.
He thought Harriet was under his control, but in fact, what Harriet did was far more than he could ever imagine.
He thought that he would never see Riley again, and that he had already moved on, but he couldnât help thinking about her when she showed up again.
When he came to a very empty road, he saw a familiar figure, which It was Riley!
âStop the car!â he said to the driver subconsciously.
When the driver stopped the car on the roadside, Zephyr found that this place was exactly the spot for the car accident that happened to Riley and Nicholas.
Right now, Riley was standing at the intersection, lowering her head and looking at something in her hand.
Zephyr suddenly became curious about what was in Rileyâs hand.
Without hesitation, he got out of the car and walked towards Riley.
Since Riley was focusing on the thing in her hand, she didnât notice that someone was approaching.
