Chapter 1276

In her hand was a bracelet that Nicholas gave her before he left.

He said, “I may not be able to make it to your wedding, Riley. This is a wedding present for you and I’m sure you’ll be the most beautiful bride in the world.”

“Bride… Yeah, I’ll be someone’s bride someday and wear this bracelet at my wedding,” she thought.

“Nicholas…” Riley murmured, having tears in her eyes.

Suddenly, she heard a man’s voice. “What? Are you mourning Nicholas? Were you going to marry him if he was still alive?”

Riley was stunned, and the next second, she raised her head and looked at Zephyr standing in front of her. He looked elegant and aristocratic in his suit, but there was displeasure on his handsome face.

“Yes. I would marry Nicholas immediately if he was still alive!” she answered without hesitation. She felt sorry that the man who loved her so much sacrificed his life to protect her.

She should have been the one who died!

Her words seemed to provoke Zephyr, making him more unpleasant. He came closer to her and said, “It seems that you love him so much. Sorry, I shouldn’t have stepped in.”

Riley frowned. “What exactly do you want, Zephyr?”

Honestly, even Zephyr didn’t know what he wanted to do!

He just saw her standing here, so he got out of the car and came to her subconsciously. However, when he heard her murmuring Nicholas’ name, he couldn’t help being jealous.

The feeling was so strong that at the same time, he was surprised by his own thought. He found it ridiculous.

After so many years, he was still jealous of Nicholas.

He fixed his eyes on the bracelet in Riley’s hand. It was a diamond bracelet which looked quite expensive.

He didn’t remember that Riley used to have such a bracelet, and she probably wouldn’t buy this expensive stuff now.

Riley hadn’t taken back all the shares she had in the Summer family. Even the house she lived in now was rented by Jonathan’s wife, Rosalie, so she couldn’t be able to afford such a bracelet worth several million dollars.

Suddenly, he thought of something.

“Is this bracelet a gift from Nicholas?” he blurted out.

Riley froze. She looked awkward, not knowing what to say.

In an instant, Zephyr knew that he was right, and he became more jealous.

The next second, he did something that he never imagined. He snatched the bracelet from her.

“What are you doing?” Riley was shocked and tried to get the bracelet back, but it was too late. Zephyr had already got the bracelet.

“Well, it seems that you care so much about what Nicholas gave you,” Zephyr said coldly.

“Give it back to me!” Riley spread her hand to Zephyr. Her voice was loud, and her eyes kept locked on the bracelet in his hand.

It was like the bracelet was the only thing on her mind now.

Somehow, Zephyr felt lost. She wasn’t even looking at him! “What am I to her?” he thought.

“Did you forget how you cheated on me many years ago, Riley? And how dare you miss Nicholas with the bracelet he gave you? The best thing that can happen to it is to be destroyed!” As Zephyr spoke, he held his hand aside.

Next to him was a drain, and if the bracelet fell into it, it would never be found again.

“Don’t!” Riley exclaimed, “Don’t destroy it, Zephyr. If you do, I’ll never forgive you!”

“Really?” Zephyr suddenly laughed. “What makes you think I need your forgiveness? Who do you think you are? I should be the one to say that!”

Riley’s face suddenly turned pale. “It was a gift from Nicholas. If you try to take it from me in public, I’ll call the police. Then you’re guilty of robbery!”

“Robbery?” Zephyr sneered, but his eyes became colder. “I’ll say I dropped it by accident, and I can pay you the same price or even several times the original price. Do you still think the police will take it as a robbery? Do I need to rob a bracelet from you?”

Riley felt a little dizzy, so she closed her eyes. She knew that Zephyr was getting back at her.

Maybe the only way for her to get the bracelet back was to compromise with Zephyr.

“Fine, then what do I have to do to get the bracelet back?” asked Riley.

Zephyr said indifferently, “You can’t. Did you ever think about me when you and Nicholas made me the biggest joke in Lommore?”

“I told you that Nicholas and I never did anything wrong to you,” Riley shouted.

However, Zephyr didn’t seem to believe her.

“You don’t believe me, do you?” Riley said.

“Why don’t we make a bet? You lie in the middle of the street, waiting for the cars to come towards you.

If any of the cars stop and you’re not hurt, then I’ll believe you. If you get hit by a car and die, that just proves it’s your fate!” Zephyr said casually.

When Riley heard this, she felt deeply shocked. He was risking her life!

She took a deep breath and closed her eyes as if she was thinking about something. After a while, she opened her eyes and said calmly, “Fine, I’m in. Don’t forget to give me back the bracelet if I’m alive!”

After saying that, she glanced at the bracelet again and then walked towards the street without hesitation.

It was late now, so there were very few cars on this street and they all went very fast. Besides, there were few streetlights around, so if the driver wasn’t paying much attention, he could easily run over someone lying on the ground.

The point was, she just thought that she couldn’t lose this bracelet.

Because that was the most precious thing left to her by Nicholas.

Riley stood in the middle of the road, looking at the empty road and thinking, “Maybe it won’t be a bad thing if I die today. I can reunite with Nicholas in heaven and be a happy couple.”
