Chapter 1281
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
The woman only had one umbrella and because she tried to hold it for him, she got herself wet from the rain.
âI donât like being followed,â Calvin said coldly.
âButâ¦â the woman looked hesitant. âAre you sure youâre OK?â
âWhy would I feel not OK?â Calvin thought. He turned around and walked forward, having no intention of talking to the woman.
However, he had only gone a few steps when the woman followed him again and held the umbrella for him!
He turned around again and looked at her with a stern face. âI said that I donât like being followed.â
âI donât like following people either!â Hanna yelled in her heart. She was never been a person who liked meddling in other peopleâs business, but she felt a little uncomfortable when she saw him walking in the rain with a sad look. That was why she held an umbrella for him.
âErr⦠Life isnât always smooth sailing. You may be facing a lot of stress, but thatâs okay. Youâll overcome it,â she comforted him.
Calvin, who had been indifferent to her, suddenly looked at her with sharp eyes. âWhat do you know about me?â
She was startled by his gaze, feeling as if the air had frozen and made her breathless for a moment.
She suddenly found that this man was a little frightening.
âI just think that we all should cherish our lives. After all, we only live once,â she muttered.
Calvin found her words a little hilarious. âDo you think Iâm going to kill myself?â
Hanna blinked and blushed instantly, which proved Calvinâs guess right.
He thought, âWhy did she think so? If committed suicide, I might be the biggest joke in the entertainment industry.â
âWhy made you think that?â he asked.
âBecause⦠Because you looked like you were going to cry,â she said awkwardly. She felt that when she accidentally saw his expression just now. She thought the man had been through a lot of heartache.
She even wondered if the rain on his face was mixed with his tears.
Calvin raised his hand and gently wiped the rain off his face. âIâm not crying and I wonât cry. You thought too much.â He thought that his tears had run out many years ago.
Every time he felt regretful, he would cry until there were no more tears!
Hanna looked even more embarrassed. âWell, it seems that I misunderstood you!â she thought.
The point was she only had one umbrella, so if she left, she would have him keep walking in the rain.
And if she continued to hold the umbrella for him, she would get herself wet.
She was facing a dilemma..
Therefore, Hanna had to hold the umbrella for him and hope that the rain would stop soon.
Calvin glanced at her in confusion and asked, âWhy are you still here?â
She said, âIâd feel bad if I left you in the rain alone. Youâll catch a cold. According to the weather forecast, this is a shower that starts suddenly and ends very quickly, so I guess it will stop soon.â
Calvin stared at her and thought, âDid she approach me for a certain purpose? Iâve seen too many women like her.â
After all, his family background was too tempting.
âThen what about this woman? Did she know who I am?â he thought.
However, Hanna didnât say anything. She just stood next to him and held the umbrella for him, not doing anything inappropriate.
Calvin stood still and looked into the distance.
The pouring rain washed the earth as if to wash away all the filth.
âHave you ever loved someone?â Calvin suddenly asked. He was a little surprised that he would talk about love with a strange woman.
Hanna was stunned and tightened her grip on the umbrella. âI had,â she said.
âReally?â
âSadly, it was just a joke. I found that he never loved me and I was just a game he played for a bet.
Sorry, you probably wonât want to hear it,â Hanna smiled bitterly.
Even though it was a long time ago, it still stung her heart. She was just used to pretending to her friends that she was all right.
When she was with this strange man, however, she felt that she could talk about it without pressure.
âSo I tried everything to forget him and withdraw my love for him. Falling in love with someone who doesnât deserve it is a terrible waste of my feelings,â she sighed and smiled.
âWithdraw?â Calvin said in a low voice, âIf you can withdraw your love for someone, that just shows that you donât love him enough.â
Hanna looked at him in surprise, feeling quite astonished to hear that.
âThen have you ever been in deep love with someone?â Hanna asked subconsciously.
However, Calvin didnât answer. Instead, he looked up at the sky.
The rain was getting lighter, and the clouds were beginning to dissipate.
The rain stopped as quickly as it came Soon, it completely stopped.
Calvin raised his hand to hail a cab to leave while Hanna was still standing there.
She felt as if everything that had just happened had been a dream. The man left so quickly that he didnât even say goodbye to her.
Hanna wondered, âDid the man walk alone and sad in the rain because he got dumped?
What kind of woman would dump this guy?â
After all, she was so close to Calvin that she could see his face. Even though his wet hair and bruises made him look like a mess, he still had a handsome face, especially those beautiful eyes. If such eyes were filled not with indifference but with tenderness, it could easily melt oneâs heart.
She thought, âA man like him should be very popular with women, but why did he seem like heâs been dumped?â
Hanna was curious, but then she smiled gently because it was none of her business at the end of the day.
âEven if he gets dumped, heâll find a new girlfriend soon,â she thought.
