Chapter 1373
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
âLook at me and fix my tie now,â Calvin demanded, still leaning forward slightly.
Hanna blushed and did gently as he told like an obedient student. âLike this?â she asked.
âYes.â Calvin smiled gently while looking at her.
But she knew that he was acting.
Without raising her head, she knew many people fixed their eyes on her.
âWell, a lot of people are watching us,â Hanna said in a low voice.
âI know. Just ignore them,â Calvin replied. He wanted people to watch them lovey-dovey. That was his purpose today.
At this moment, a voice suddenly sounded. âWow, I didnât expect you two lovebirds to show PDA. Iâm so envious!â
The moment Hanna turned her head, she saw Alan, whom she used to meet at a party hosted by one of Calvinâs friends. To her surprise, he brought a new plus-one today.
Calvin immediately straightened his back and greeted him, âNice to see you, Alan!â
They began to chat with each other. Obviously, Alan didnât intend to introduce his plus-one to Calvin and Hanna.
In his eyes, nothing serious was between them. They just got what they wanted.
âHanna, you look amazing today. I can hardly recognize you,â Alan exclaimed, returning his gaze to Hanna. âIt seems Calvin is serious abou you.â
As a people person, Alan called Hanna by her first name.
Hanna smiled awkwardly. Calvin wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer to him. âI have always been serious about Hanna.â
âOf course!â Alan hurriedly echoed.
âTake a chair and Iâll get you something to eat,â Calvin said, looking at Hanna again.
âOkay,â Hanna replied.
Alan whitso said to his plus-one, âWhy donât you sit with Hanna for a while?â Then he walked in another direction with Calvin.
Hanna and Alanâs plus-one exchanged glances. At last, Alanâs plus-one spoke first, âWhatâs your name, please?â
âIâm Hanna Zimmerman. You can call me Hanna,â Hanna replied with a smile. âCan I have your name, please?â
âIâm Tina Larson. You can call me Tina,â Tina replied politely.
Hanna looked at Tina who appeared to be in her early twenties and younger than her.
âBy the way, Hanna, whatâs your relationship with Mr. Gunner?â Tina asked curiously.
âHeâs my boyfriend,â Hanna replied gracefully.
Tina was envious of her. âHanna, what does your family do for a living? How did you know Mr.
Gunner?â
âWell, Iâm a comic illustrator and my parents are not businessmen. Calvin and I met in a restaurant,â
Hanna replied honestly.
She didnât see the need to hide it because it wasnât a secret.
Tina had a surprised look on her face. Tina thought Hanna could become Calvinâs girlfriend because of her strong family background. In the end, she was nothing other than a comic illustrator.
She wondered if such a woman deserved to be Calvinâs girlfriend.
At least, her family had a small business. However, Alan didnât even introduce her to anyone else just now!
Thinking of this, Tina felt jealous.
At that moment, someone suddenly came over and said contemptuously, âLook whoâs here! Ah! Itâs you! Who do you think you are to attend such an event?â
When Hanna looked up, she saw Queena in a delicate haute couture dress. She naturally remembered Queena after meeting her at a party of one of Calvinâs friends.
Queena was a socialite in Strico and one of Calvinâs childhood friends.
Hanna could sense Queenaâs crush on Calvin, but Calvin had no affection for Queena.
âI came to this party with Calvin. Why donât you tell Calvin if you think Iâm not good enough to be his plus-one?â Hanna replied with dignity.
As Calvinâs girlfriend, Hanna couldnât do much but she wouldnât allow herself to embarrass Calvin on such an occasion.
âYou have a sharp tongue,â Queena snorted, sizing Hannaâs expensive dress and jewelry up and down.
Her eyes were full of disdain. âCalvin bought you your dress and jewelry for you, right? A woman like you is only interested in his money. You simply want to reap more benefits from him. I have seen a lot of women like you. If you have dignity, you shouldnât have spent a dime of his!â
Some people around also turned their attention to Hanna. Several socialites in the upper-class coterie, who were close to Queena, also came over. They looked at Hanna with contempt after hearing Queenaâs words.
âAh! Itâs her! There are so many scheming women following the money nowadays.â
âThatâs right. Some women claim that they donât want money, but they are greedy for money inwardly!â
âHow could Calvin favor such a woman? She must have pulled some dirty tricks on him!â
They verbally attacked Hanna and had already labeled her as a sche woman who was greedy for money.
Hanna could feel their scornful stares. She had always disliked quar with others, but she didnât want to back down at that moment.
After taking a deep breath, she stood up and lifted her chin. âWhat? D Calvin have no charm other than his money? Calvin appeals to me because of his character and sincerity. Ms. Stapleton, I thought at least you should know how attractive Calvin is. It turned out that you only care about his money.â
Queena and the socialites beside her were rendered speechless for a moment.
âExcuse me,â Hanna said. She turned around and wanted to look for Queena was so furious that she took a glass of beverage off the waiterâs tray and poured it at Hanna.
It was too late for Hanna to dodge after she saw Queenaâs action out of the corner of her eye. Almost by reflex, she raised her hand to block it.
At that time, a figure quickly drew her into his arms and the liquid was sprayed all over Calvin.
