Chapter 14
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
Chapter 14
She felt like she was straight-up being embarrassed.
Mandy turned around in anger and hurriedly left the place that embarrassed her, while Jennie hurriedly followed.
Rosalie just felt as if she had watched a drama. She saw someone smashing the car as soon as she got out of the mall, and that car seemed to belong to Mandy.
âWhat happened? Did she offend someone and get retaliated on?â Rosalie asked.
âWho knows?â Jonathanâs eyes flashed slightly as his thin lips parted.
âItâs none of our business anyway.â Rosalie took Jonathan to the bus stop.
Jonathanâs footsteps suddenly stopped. Rosalie turned around to see his pale face with a shocked expression, looking straight at the bus stop. âWhatâs wrong?â she asked worriedly.
âN-nothing,â he said. His expression had returned to normal. Just now⦠It was he who mistook a woman on the bus as that woman.
That woman who had abandoned her husband and son. She was unlikely
to be here at all.
âDonât be like me, Jon. Donât love someone too much, even if you want
to.â
He continued, âLove is nothing but the cheapest thing in this world. When she disdains you, itâs useless, even if you kneel before her.â
He added, âMaybe one day, when you really love someone, youâll realize that there is a person in this world who can control all your emotions, your joy, and sorrows. She can make you feel as though youâre in heaven, yet she could break you as well. But if possible, I hope youâd never have to go through that feeling, Jon.â
âWho is that? Who is saying that?â Jon thought.
âDonât say anything more, and donât stay here anymore! Itâs so cold⦠Itâs so cold⦠I donât want to stay here anymore⦠Iâd freeze to death⦠If I stay here any longer!â he thought.
âIâm leaving, Jon. I donât want to hear your father saying that he loves me but canât give me the life I want! Iâve done my best for him and I canât go on like this.â

âWho is this now and who is talking?â he thought.
âNo⦠Donât goâ¦â There was a voice. âThen whoâs this now? Oh, right,â he thought. It was he himself talking. He was begging that woman. If she left, his father wouldâ¦
Donât go! Donât go! He desperately tried to catch her, but he could not, no matter how hard he tried. It seemed that the surroundings were getting darker and darker. It was as though he was drowning, feeling so uncomfortable that it even became difficult to breathe.
He struggled to hold on to something, even if it was just a straw!
Suddenly, it was as if he had caught something warm and a gentle voice sounded in his ear from a distance. âJon, Jon, Iâm not leaving, Iâm not leaving. Donât be afraid!â
âThat voice⦠Itâs Rosie,â he thought. It was Rosalie, who he called Rosie! Jonathan slowly opened his eyes and a beautiful face came into his sight. Those dark eyes were full of worry, and those pink lips were parting and closing, as though saying something.
Yes, she was asking him to not be afraid!
Rosalie finally breathed a sigh of relief when she saw him awaken. âWhatâs wrong, Jon? Did you have a nightmare?â
He breathed out a sigh of foul air. How long had it been since he had this dream? He dreamt that the woman left him and his father mercilessly. He dreamt that his father knew about her leaving, but did not stop her. There was only a bitter smile on his face.
âWell, yeah, I had a nightmare,â he said in a low voice. It was only then he found that he had been holding her hand tightly as if he was holding on
to his last hope.
When he was about to drown in his dream, the warmth made him feel as though it was his last hopeâ¦
Was it her hand?
When did he ever regard others as his last hope?
He immediately let go of the hand and that warmth in his hand
disappeared. Suddenly, he frowned, and his face turned pale. He slowly curled up and covered his stomach with his hand.
Seeing this, Rosalie, who was relieved, immediately worried again. âAre you feeling uncomfortable?â
âItâs nothing,â he said in a low voice that sounded suffocating. âItâs just⦠A little gastric spasm. Iâll be fine later.â

Was it because of the nightmare? In the past, he always had gastric spasms due to men tal stress when he was young. However, he rarely had them in recent years.
She looked at his pale face and pushed away the bangs in front of his forehead, only to see a thin layer of sweat. His hair was wet because of that.
Rosalie poured a glass of warm water and helped Jonathan sit up.
He barely drank a few sips before pressing his thin lips tightly. His teeth clacked occasionally as if he was fighting the pain with all his willpower. She looked at him worriedly, but suddenly stood up and said. âIâll go out for a while. Wait for me!â Before going out, she wrapped him up with a quilt for fear that he would get cold and worsen his stomach pain. Upon the sound of the closing door, the footsteps outside gradually disappeared.
The room was silent, and he was alone.
With his eyes still closed, he waited for the pain to fade away, not knowing when. It was normal for him to be alone, wasnât it?
Just like how he was taken back to the Youngblood residence once his father died, even when there was a so-called Grandpa and so many housekeepers, it always felt like he was the only one.
The door opened after some time. He heard that familiar and gentle voice panting in the narrow room.
âIâm back from buying medicine, Jon. You wonât feel so painful after taking it.â
He opened his eyes to see her panting. Her hair was messy because of running, and there was worry in her eyes. She had a delicate face with a small nose and reddish lips. Although he had seen more beautiful women than her, at this moment, he could not bring himself to shift his gaze away from her.
It was as though there was another person who came into his world.
Rosalie was holding the warm water as she took out two pills according to the instructions. She carefully held Jonathan up and fed him the medicine.
Then she took a towel and wiped the sweat on his forehead that was due to pain.
âClose your eyes and sleep for a while if youâre still feeling
uncomfortable,â she said. âToday you sleep in bed. Iâll sleep on the floor.â

As she spoke, she held him to lie on the bed.
His hand suddenly grabbed her just as she was about to turn around. âWhatâs the matter? Does it still hurt a lot?â she asked worriedly.
He looked at her in a daze. At that moment, he was barely conscious when he pulled her as if he did not want her to leave him.
âI want⦠you to stay with me, Rosie,â he finally spoke up after a while.
