Chapter 167
The Ceo’s Convict Wife
Rosalie was shocked. âWhat did you say?â
âDidnât you hear me clearly, Rosie?â replied Jonathan patiently. âSince you donât like that company, why donât we have the company delisted?â
His countenance looked as if he was talking about some mundane matters.
âBut⦠What does he mean by delisting the company? wondered Rosalie.
Rosalieâs pupils suddenly contracted. She thought, Could it be what I think it is? That company is a newcomer in the food delivery industry. Although it is not on par with those well-known companies, its momentum has been quite good recently. I also read reports that recently, the company has successfully raised funds, and a firm will invest 340 million dollars into it.
How can such a company be delisted just by someone saying they would delist it?
But⦠If Jonathan is the one who is saying this, even if it sounds impossible, he will make it possible.
âJust because I donât like it?â asked Rosalie as she stared dazedly at Jonathan.
He smiled and said, âI donât like the people who sold you out. A company whose chairman tries to sell out people to get benefits, even if I donât make a move, this kind of company wonât be able to make it into the big leagues either. In that case, it is better if they are taken care of earlier.â
For a moment, Rosalie only felt that there were so many things that she wanted to say, yet the words were stuck in her throat.
In between jokes, he could easily decide the life and demise of a company. If the company chairman knew this was the result of his phone call to Jonathan, he would never have made that call in the first place.
âBy the way, Rosie, why arenât you eating? Have some more,â said Jonathan. Then he ladled another spoon of one of the dishes and placed it into her bowl He seemed to be gentle and considerate.
However, Rosalie knew that these were just illusions. No one could guess what Jonathan was thinking about. Maybe he would. take good care of you in the last second and make you fall into hell in the next second.
Rosalie lowered her head and ate the dishes in the bowl mechanically. Although the food looked delicious, she couldnât taste anything as she ate them.
âAre you sure you donât need me to introduce you to a job? This way, you can do whatever kind of work you want. You can even go back to your old line of work if you want,â said Jonathan.
âNo⦠thatâs not necessary. I can find a job for myself,â said Rosalie.
The next moment, the air seemed to have gone still. Even if Rosalie didnât raise her head, she could now feel Jonathanâs gaze fixed on her.
After a long while, Rosalie heard Jonathanâs voice. âWell, if you insist, we will do it according to your wishes.â
He then got up and left the dining hall.
Rosalie took a deep breath only after she heard Jonathanâs footsteps fade away. She raised her head and looked at the dining table. Half a bowl of food was still left on the table in front of his seat.
Jonathan hadnât even finished his meal.
âDid my answer annoy bim again?â wondered Rosalie. She couldnât help but think about it. Then she mocked herself secretly.
She thought. What is the use of thinking about this? If it is about him being annoyed, I have already provoked him from the beginning by refusing to stay with him.
And now, my injured finger has almost healed, but⦠I still have no way of leaving this place.
When exactly will I be able to leave?
Somehow, I feel that the longer 1 stay here, the deeper our bonds will become.
When Lillian woke up, she saw an unfamiliar ceiling and a dimmed crystal light hanging from it.
âThis place⦠Where is this place?â wondered Lillian groggily.
Lillian was stunned for a moment before she started to recall what had happened earlier. Then, she sat up abruptly.
-I had some wine again and ended up drunk!â thought Lillian.
âAre you awake?â A voice resounded in the room. Lillian stiffened and then turned around to look at the side the voice came from.
Sure enough, Callum was sitting on the sofa not far from the bed, and his gaze was fixed on her.
âI-Iâm a-awakeâ¦â stammered Lillian in embarrassment. She quickly climbed down from the bed and checked her shirt and pants. âGlad they are still intact. I guess this means that nothing had happened,â
she thought. But just in case, she asked, âI didnât do anything after I got drunk, right?â
âYou actually did quite several things. Which one do you want me to talk about?â asked Callum lazily.
Lillianâs jaw dropped in shock.
âSeveral things⦠What have I done? Just my luck that my head is still messy after getting drunk this time. Unlike a few years back, when I could still remember what I had done even after waking up!â she thought.
âS-So what have I done?â she gulped nervously and asked cautiously.
As soon as she asked, Callum could not help but blush slightly.
Lillian was dumbfounded as she stared at the flush on his face. She just felt that when he looked like this, he suddenly resembled the person she remembered back then.
âI-Is it possible that I forced myself on you again last night?â blurted out Lillian quickly. Then she saw Callumâs face flush even more. He even turned his gaze away from her uneasily.
Lillian had the urge to beat herself to death. She thought. âOh, my goodness! No way! Did I make the same mistake twice? I guess⦠the clothes and trousers on my body being intact does not mean that nothing had happened between us,â âWell⦠How did I force myself on you?â asked Lillian. In the spirit of seeking truth objectively, she cautiously asked for clarification to check if there was any way she could make it up to him.
âEnough!â said Callum angrily. He had finally calmed himself down, and his face didnât look as flushed as before.
Just now, when Lillian had questioned him, he recalled that when he brought her to the room earlier, she had suddenly opened her eyes and wrapped her arms around his neck. Then, she started kissing him all over his face. It was almost like a puppy licking at his face.
While she kissed him, she even said things like he smelled so nice, felt so soft, and tasted so good.
This woman was behaving in the same manner she had that year.
Even during this moment, he felt like she was breathing on him. He couldnât get rid of that feeling, no matter how. âAnyway, from today onwards, letâs start dating. You must fall in love with me,â said Callum in conclusion.
âWhat?â thought Lillian as she looked at the man in a daze, seriously suspecting she might have misheard Callum.
Callum didnât waste time talking nonsense and directly opened the recording on his phone to play Lillian the previous conversation between them. When Lillian heard that she had actually agreed previously, she almost stumbled over herself and fell to the ground.
âIâm supposed to date Callum? And he wanted me to fall in love with him? Is his idea of revenge, letting me fall in love with him and then dumping me so that I can experience the feeling of getting abandoned?â thought Lillian, making up ber version of the events hereafter. After all, this was a common play in TV series!
